He actually to me has some 1st round talent if he can keep his head on straight

Yeah, I just read a short blurb on him and he sounds like a loose cannon. Head case. No matter, he'll not even sniff the starting gig behind Trev and Pax.

Awesome Mr. Irrelevant pick. Mostly doesn't get the " surprise " factor like this did. He's got good pedigree and potential to unseat either Qb in 2019 if he's healthy and gets act together. Way cool final pick :)

Chad Kelly .... well can't comment on his character. But two years ago in the Memphis game where Lynch really started turning heads his final season with that upset win against ole miss it was Kelly that missed crucial throw after crucial long throw (completed some good passes but was unable to match Lynch's big throws). Had some nice games and flashes ability but inconsistent is right word.

QB. Exciting. Probably won't do much, though. Oh well, can always make him the next great on Madden.

Chad Kelly's first trip to humility station is being Mr. Irrelevant. Elway favor perhaps - to Jim Kelly.

Either way - great pick for the bottom of the 7th round - if he wakes up Garrett Bolles style and becomes a team asset - or if he doesn't, it won't cost anything to wash him out of the roster.

Kelly will be interesting
Can't really stash him on the PS cause any team can promote a PS player to thier active roster
Correct? Denver would have to carry 3 QBs
If they IR him, can he practice with the team? The PUP is the first 6 weeks + 2 more weeks to evaluate

He can't throw for 2-3 months due to wrist surgery

What I liked in the Chad Kelly games I've seen - this guy doesn't get passes knocked down at the lOS - despite his size. He doesn't throw every pass as a bullet - he puts touch on some and loft on some and pace on the rest. His footwork is really good - and he has very good athleticism for a QB. Kelly's execution of the Ol Miss offense was awesome at times. He was a gunslinger mentality -and is very familiar with interceptions. Sure looked good against SEC competition.

This puts pressure on Lynch and Siemian - long term - if Chad Kelly stays on an even keel. Even the UDFA Sloter is a very good prospect. They balls are going to flying around Dove Valley.

QB's are weird...

It seems like the mental cases remain that way, and can never grow out of it. Or maybe it's just the microscope the position is under.

But you hear stories like Bolles all the time. WR's, Oline, Dline, LB'er...

But not very often at qb.

Hope he's the one that can.

This was a great pick by Elway. He costs pocket change to the team , has a built in injury to so they can shelve him and watch him for a year. If Lynch wins the job, next year they can get something for TS. If Trevor wins the job they have either Lynch or Kelly to back up and try to get something for the other I assume Lynch though being beaten out twice by a 7th round pick would not be the best for Lynch's' career path.

Could be a win win just like GB and Wolf use to do with his QBs. Draft one and pawn one off to the QB needy NFL.

This is gonna sound bad, but is it bad that I was way more excited about the Chad Kelly pick in Round 7 then Paxton Lynch in round 1?

Maybe it was the investment we put into them, but Ive always been a big Kelly fan. Doesn't help that he was a stud for my college fantasy league so I am partial to him, and I see the flaws, but

He is a hell of a talent.

He needs a better attitude off the field, he trusts his arm a bit too much like Cutler on the field, but he isn't a prick to his teammates on the field either. He shows more love then Cutler.

That being said yes, he was gonna fall after some off field concerns (some pretty big ones prior to Ole Miss) and his torn ACL.

Yall won't remember but last year I posted a way early 1 round mock and I had Chad Kelly going 5th overall to the Chicago Bears. That is how much hope I had him in him entering his SR season..... He fell fast not so much for on the field stuff as off.

I like his stuff better then Siemian or Lynch. Call me crazy, but just being honest. I had this guy as a potential top 10 pick a year ago.
