Roger Goodell is a fantastic employee of the NFL. Look worried and concerned about anything bad or embarrassing to happen to the game or its players, and then move at a snail's pace... in the wrong direction.

The average age of an NFL official is over 50 and even with an army of them, they can't see obvious things like feet in bounds or whether a fumble happened. Watching a recent game, my wife asked, "what the hell is a DJ?" and I had to look it up.

It's not new. They renamed the position from "Head Linesman" a couple of years ago because a woman became a referee and the NFL wanted to seem progressive.

I didn't get that from the story. I got they need to fix what's broken (The Officiating), but since it happens in all leagues they will have to be OK with it.

Referee and Umpire are behind the Offense.
Field Judge and Side Judge are across from each other down field.
Back Judge is the one that gets run over once in awhile.
