Not a bad comparison... both good role players, both nice contracts... although Jae has floundered somewhat away from his niche in Boston.

One thing about Jae is he is a worker and a leader. The big worry when anyone gets paid is that they will take their foot off the gas...

Guys like Crowder and Covington have to work harder than the competition to be productive.

"Robert is a mistake I rubbed my own nose in for over a year. The 2013 Draft was a flurry of activity for us—a handful of trades and selections in both the first and second rounds. We had more action following the draft as we tried to finalize our summer league team and get the myriad trade calls set up with the NBA. I could see this coming a few days before and we informed the media that this kind of approach might lead to an unusually late start for the post-draft press conference. Several of you were still there late that night. At about 1:00 a.m. I went downstairs to address an equally exhausted media on deadline from their editors. When I returned upstairs, the undrafted Robert Covington was gone, having agreed to play for another club’s summer league team, eventually making their regular season roster. He torched the D-League that year, haunting me all the while. When he became available 17 months later, we pounced. But I shudder, even now, at that (nearly) missed opportunity." - Sam Hinkie

When asked when he'll know when the rebuilding process is complete and he has the right players in place, Hinkie responded ominously, "We'll all know."

Good move for Philly. They're setting themselves up to be a very good team going forward.

What a great team contract for the 6ers. He'll essentially make 11 million per season the next 4 seasons, while a shit load of guys worse than him will make significantly more than him. Heard we'll have 20 million in cap space next season. If healthy this team is gonna be so scary.

I was reading an article about how the Sixers could try and woo Lebron next year.

Realistically speaking the only way that could happen is if the Sixers wind up 45+ wins and at least make a little noise in the playoffs.

Hinkie should get another job. Whether you like the Process or not, he's at least good at spying talent. Beyond Embiid and Simmons, he nailed some role player picks in Saric, Covington, and McConnell.

They should have $31M practical cap space next season.
They would not re-sign Redick at $23M, Amir, Stauskas, etc.

If Redick re-signs for say $7M, they could also trade Bayless in his final year and shed another $9M, if necessary.

Lebron to the Sixers confirmed. Simmons/Lebron/Embiid would be near criminal.

The 76ers have a lot of talented young guys who look to be keepers. Covington is one of those guys, nice signing.
