As I said in another thread, when I saw Johnny back in the early 70's it was my first herbally enhanced concert.

His circa 1970's live album, had the best Jumping Jack Flash ever.

I have a DVD of him, some stuff from clubs in Europe, segments from Don Kirschner's Rock concert TV show, etc.

There is one impromptu bit where he and his bass player do an unplugged Key to the Highway. Stellar.

I had the opportunity to see him in a solo concert back in the late 70's. He was a magician with a guitar in his hands. RIP Johnny.

I never saw him in person, but he was a huge part of the soundtrack to my early youth. 70 is too young.

Wow....sad news. I saw him a few times during my HS years in the early 70's and at blues fests in later years. Dude could flat out play serious blues rock & roll. I also saw him w/ his brother Edgar once too in Texas while in the Air Force. Awesome Concert.
The music world lost a good one.
R.I.P. Johnny

I watched Down and Dirty the Johnny Winter story on Amazon last night.

Youwsa! He was looking very rough at the end. Couldn’t even stand up straight.

Could still play the guitar though.
