Who is their franchise QB and what has he ever done? This is where you have a double standard when it comes to KC.

Last I checked the Chiefs had Alex Smith, and while he is not elite, Andy Reid seems to think he is a franchise QB.

So unless you think Smith is going to get benched, what i said holds weight.

lol. true but that is the browns.

Thats also been us for the better part of 20 years. Chasing the elite QB at the cost of the rest of the roster. We actually have a good QB and most teams that dont have one would likely jump at the chance to have a good QB. We on the other hand are sitting here debating if the besst QB we have had in over a decade... is good enough.

Sorry, I thought Dean was the one labeling smith as a franchise QB. I agree, he is, but I also think KC is just as good, if not better than Smith. My bad.

I think those that are hoping Kirk plays on the tag are of this opinion.

Suppose we sign him long term now, and we end up passing on drafting one of these sure fire elite prospects because we had already signed Kirk long term.

This won't happen because it makes too much sense. As GK has pointed out, the hit rate on these "sure fire prospects" is dismal. Why would you give up a QB who has proven he can operate, very successfully, your offense, over a few bucks or over the perception that he is the highest paid, blah, blah, blah, nonsense.

I think KC is far better than Smith. Smith is a game manager. KC can take over a game. KC has only been doing this two years also.

I think right now they are very similar in capabilities, with an edge to KC in accuracy and arm strength. Smith has a heck of a lot more experience but has probably reached is final capability. The ceiling for cousins is much higher, IMO.

ESPN's John Keim thinks there is less than a 50-percent chance walk-year QB Kirk Cousins signs a long-term deal with the Redskins before the season.

It is not a surprising belief considering neither side has expressed optimism and coach Jay Gruden recently dodged the question entirely, saying, "I know he’s gonna be here this season, and that’s all I care about." Perhaps something changes if Washington is able to put together a playoff run, but right now the two sides seem headed toward a divorce next spring.

it takes 22 players to get "wins " sonny jurgensen was a HOF qb who didnt get many wins for us , you know dean its a team sport and all

The team isn't not seeing wide open WRs for easy TDs in the red-zone. The QB had that issue all season long though.

He isn't gonna burn his sources, but he has some insider knowledge I am sure.

I guess we will see, but this is no huge surprise to me. I still stand firm that he doesn't want to be here and despite what many of you think, he is all about the money and looking for top dollar, Andrew Luck type contract....minimum. Anything less than 24-25 right now and he ain't even listnin. He and his agent are rolling the dice on the tag this year knowing that if he plays well he will get a long term 26-28 APY contract.
