Tampa Bay Rays right fielder Steven Souza Jr. is blaming the field conditions at the Oakland Athletics' O.co Coliseum for a left hip injury that knocked him out of Wednesday's game.

"I went to slide, and it was extremely muddy around second base," Souza said after the Rays' 7-2 loss. "My leg got stuck in the ground, and I just kind of felt a jump in my hip. That didn't feel very great."

Souza suffered the strained hip in the first inning while trying to steal second after drawing a leadoff walk. He said he was feeling much better after the game.

Rays RF Souza 'not OK' with A's 'muddy' field

Drew Pomeranz since his blow up in the dugout with Farrell in Oakland:

7-1, 2.64 ERA, 64.2 IP, 63 Ks, 23 walks. Red Sox 9-2 in his starts.

Has also pitched at least 6 innings in 6 of his last 7 starts. The only one he didn't was when he had to wait out 2 rain delays.

Yeah so far he is impressing me since that point. Wish I saw said blow-up though

On the MLB.com recap of the game. They were going to Drew Pomeranz highlights, and showed this:

I can see how they would confuse the two.

Well at least Sale goes tomorrow, so the bullpen can get some rest after having to go at least 4 innings this afternoon. And they are facing Liriano, who they hit well last time they faced him. Liriano had an ERA of 3.97 at the end of April. It's 7.04 since then, yet somehow the Blue Jays are 7-3 in those games.

Some fun to be had if you were to do the same type of thing for Aaron Judge since the HR derby.

I didn't know a guys batting average could drop that fast.

It's an interesting idea. Word is that Baltimore has no shot of keeping him. His value won't be any greater than it is at this deadline.

A package headlined by Devers and Bradley would be hard for Baltimore to say no to.

I don't see the Red Sox doing that, though.
id rather have a year and a half of machado with an inside track to sign him, vs 6 years of an unknown devers.
