NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Rams are in trade "discussions with several teams" about franchise player CB Trumaine Johnson.

Johnson signed his franchise tender on Monday, which will pay him $16.7 million in 2017. The Rams have been reluctant to sign Johnson to a long-term deal, suggesting they see him as a questionable fit under new DC Wade Phillips. One of the better cover corners in football, Johnson would obviously be a huge get for whoever lands him.

The Rams are talking to several teams interested in acquiring CB Trumaine Johnson.

I'm all for a trade for several reasons:

a) acquiring extra draft picks in this extremely deep defensive back class is a great move
b) we are going to need more cap space to get a quality free agent this season in addition to value signings
c) we are going to need cap space for Donald, Ogletree, and Gurley in the near future
d) I'm confident in Wade Phillips' ability to craft a top fifteen defense at the very least

so it appears Phillps does not like Tru in his system. Better be nothing lower than a 2nd

I just don't see this happening. Johnson will most likely pocket the 16.7m from the Rams... and then cash in again as a FA next year. Remember no team is going to take him unless he agrees to a long term deal.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport said to "keep an eye on" the Browns in trade talks for Rams franchise player CB Trumaine Johnson.

The Rams tagged Johnson for the second year in a row, but it doesn't sound like he's long for L.A. The Rams feel Johnson is a poor fit for Wade Phillips' defensive scheme, which emphasizes man coverage. The Browns have over $100 million in cap space and could easily take on Johnson's $16.7 million salary.

although the Browns have the cap space to take on Johnson's contract, I don't see them giving up any significant picks to get him ( especially not in a deep DB class ).

maybe if the Rams could get a 2nd this year and next year from them it might be worth it, but I just don't see the Browns giving up their 1sts to get him.

then, the question becomes, is it worth it for the Rams to unload their best DB for a couple of 2nd round picks.

Well if it goes down, we should at least get a second and a third although I would prefer a first and a third. Not sure that will work as the Browns also have a stiffy for Garoppolo. Maybe the Browns can send the Tackle Joe Thomas to us along with a third. That would work as well. We shall see, though.

The only untouchables on this team are Donald and Hekker, we better get at least a second for him.

And let's be serious, Goff too, because we have too much invested at this point and could not even come close to getting any type of equal compensation in return.

I'm sorry, but this would be the most idiotic thing in NFL history.... Give up on the #1 overall pick after one year with the worst, most inept offensive coaches in NFL history... Why in the HELL would you put this kid on the trade block?

1. to more more taint from the previous regime
2. to get rid of a kid that probably will be a bust and more than likely received two much draft hype

I'm sorry, but that's a bunch of horsecrap....

1.Goff is not a "Fisher guy"...so there goes that...

2. Probaby be a bust? Where the HELL does that come from??? Maybe we should leave that decision to the professionals like McVay, since Goff was one of his biggest reasons for coming here...

its not true until everybody during his tenure is gone, sorry but Goff counts just as much as Todd Gurely

Sorry, but no... The proof is how Goff wanted to work on off days, Fisher Guys don't do that...

Come on man. Do you think everyone else is sitting around eating bonbons? Big deal. Our 1st rd draft pick is going to how to throw a football school. I would hope he makes an effort.
