Redskins Team grade today - a very strong B+

And PROPS to the OL. They played like absolute shit last week and probably had to listen to fans and talking heads wet themselves cuz the Skins were facing the dreaded Rams DL. Well, they dominated that dreaded DL.

To the tune of 39 carries 229 yards at 5.9 yards a pop. They only surrendered 2 sacks and had 36 minutes and 19 seconds of TOP.

The OL showed up big time today and deserve a game ball.

Thompson definitely gets my game ball

the question becomes can his body hold up if he is forced to be the feature back if Kelly does not return next week

I don't think we ask him to. I expect Perrine to do the hard running because we can't ask CT to hold up. I can see us trying to get him more touches though.

Do cracked ribs on a RB mean you miss a start?!?

Don't they play with flak jackets anymore?

Anyway, if Fat Rob can't go, who they got on the practice squad?
Perine on 1st and 2nd downs, CT on 2nd and long and 3rd downs.

Either that or Perine gets the rookie cobwebs out of his system. Don't get me wrong, I like Perine, but he is still a rookie and will become better with experience.

Perine will get the start. They can't afford to over play Thompson. Plus with Raiders coming in Skins gonna have to score 30 plus to beat em... I see more pass attempts than runs anyway.

Aw man, I'm definitely not good with that possibility, while our run game did their thing, the blocking on passes still worries me a lot. If we go pass heavy against the Raiders, we had better make sure that Colt is ready to go.

Washington opened the scoring, going up 13 points on the strength of a RB Chris Thompson touchdown run, but the Rams would respond with a RB Todd Gurley touchdown run and a field goal, which drew them close to the tie until Thompson broke off a second long touchdown run.

The Rams would tie the game with another Gurley touchdown and a field goal, but Washington would win 27-20 due to a WR Ryan Grant touchdown pass from QB Kirk Cousins. With that, we give you our PFF exclusive takeaways from the contest for each team.

TOP 5 GRADES:
T Morgan Moses, 85.4 overall grade

DI Matt Ioannidis, 81.5 overall grade

CB Josh Norman, 78.7 overall grade

T Trent Williams, 78.2 overall grade

TE Vernon Davis, 78.2 overall grade

PERFORMANCES OF NOTE:
T MORGAN MOSES, 85.4 OVERALL GRADE

Moses set the tone for an impressive rushing performance by Washington, as his 88.3 run-blocking grade was the best of the game. He did give up a hit and a hurry in pass protection, but against the Rams’ impressive front he still put together an impressive all-around effort.

TE VERNON DAVIS, 78.2 OVERALL GRADE
Davis is worth mentioning because of his strong play on run blocks, as he consistently held the point of attack or collapsed his man down the line of scrimmage on runs to his side. He had just one reception on the day, but with Washington’s emphasis on the run his play (84.1 run-blocking grade) was critical to the team’s win.

CB JOSH NORMAN, 99.9 RUN DEFENSE GRADE
Josh Norman is mentioned not because of his coverage, which he only allowed 2 catches, but for his work in the run game. Norman perfected the peanut punch by forcing 2 fumbles against Gurley with strong punches on the ball.

DI MATT IOANNIDIS, 81.5 OVERALL GRADE
The second-year defensive lineman was a force against the Rams with 4 total pressures on just 19 pass rush attempts, as his quickest moves were too much for the interior offensive line.

I dont know man. I got to give the defense some props. The Rams butt raped the Colts in week one. The fact that they didnt hang 40 on our defense is a positive sign in my book. Hopefully they carry the mentality from today into next week and improve on it.

If we have a solid run game, and solid defense, that means our QB doesnt have to be superman to try and get a win. I like that.
