The Giants were underdogs in every series they were in all 3 championship years

Rangers are the team I picked to root for (due to Bochy and them never having won)

It goes by head to head record now. If it is Phillies Astros, Phillies get home field. Phillies Rangers, Rangers get home field.

Right, duh, everyone plays everyone. So even if your overall record is worse if you won head to head you get home field?

No, just in this case because the Phillies, Astros and Rangers all have the same record. If the Diamondbacks win the AL team gets home field because they were 84-78.
