Ouch, what a fall...

One year ago, Miami Hurricanes quarterback Kaaya was projected by at least one published mock draft as the #4 pick of the entire draft:

Matt Miller said:
Brad Kaaya looks the part with great size (6'4", 210 lbs) and a big arm. He's also athletic enough to slide around in the pocket and make plays off schedule. He's not surrounded by great talent at Miami, but like Goff at California, his talent stands out and his football IQ is off-the-charts good.

Now, Kaaya just got drafted by the Detroit Lions in round 6, pick 32, 215th overall.

Even a long snapper (Louisville's Colin Holba to Steelers, round 6, pick 30) was drafted before him.

Still, he will be making more money than I did after graduating college and he hasn't even earned his degree.

Good luck to him. Going to Detroit, I would have to be paid a lot of money to move there.

I was pretty surprised by that as well as the other qbs that were selected before him.

Also I get the intangibles that Trubitski has - but going #2 overall for a guy that had about a season or so on the field? Seems like a stretch. Thoughts?

Mock drafts are useless. Took all of one pick this year to screw up every mock on the planet.

Naw, a majority of recent mock drafts had Myles Garrett going first, just like what really happened.

I'm talking about the Trubisky pick. One took one pick to screw up every mock out there, because none of them had him going 2 to the Bears.

Good for him, Detroit's after coming around a bit so it's not as it was. He'll probably be a backup to Stafford but you never know what he could develop into.

I have a buddy who's a huge Canes fan, and is an insider for the Canes for our local radio, he swore last year that Kaaya would be a top 3 pick, and he even swore as recently as 2 weeks ago that Kaaya would be a first round pick, lmfao

I think he will have a solid career. Honestly he's a pretty darn good qb. Detroit got a steal for the round he went.

WTF was Chicago doing trading up for trubisky? Were the niners really going to take him??

Meh, none of these guys actually live in Detroit. They all live in Gross Point or Bloomfield Hills.

No, the 49ers weren't going to draft him, but they convinced Chicago that other teams were interested in their pick for Trubisky and the Bears felt they needed to make that move so no one else would trade with SF. I think SF made a heck of a bluff and got a lot of picks for taking who they wanted one spot lower.

I agree on the 49er part. I heard something about the Jets maybe asking but nothing was ever confirmed. That's crazy what the Bears gave up for a guy with one years experience. He did throw for a ton of yards though.

Or Rochester. Or in one of the multiple subs in Macomb where the homes start at 400-500k.

I know Dominic Raiola and a few other Lions lived in Farmington Hills.

I like the pick from the Lions. A player that has a decent chance of having upside, late in the draft and he can be a project to develop over the next few years. Rudock was a mediocre
College QB and he's a game manager. Game managers can be effective but I didn't see that when he was at Iowa, which is why he lost his starting job to Beathard, and didn't show it at Michigan. I'm dreading the stupid amount of money the Ford's are going to throw at Stafford to cripple the franchise for the next 4-6 years.

Great pick up for the Lions. I honestly think that Stafford is a few hits away from showing the wear and tear he's had for nearly the past decade in the NFL. I've LOVED him in Detroit, but I think he will soon start the downward trend in his pro career. Still the best QB Detroit has ever seen, and if Kaaya can get a few seasons under his belt, he could step in quite easily if Matt begins to fade.

Saying the best quarterback the Lions has ever seen is like saying the best quarterback the Jaguars have ever seen. We are setting the bar very high. He has shown that he can throw dead ducks to Calvin Johnson, he loves the sidearm pass, and he can injure himself if he stretches too quickly. He beats shitty teams and gets his shit pushed in on the road against any team with a pulse. Now the Lions will make him the highest paid player ever and it will set the team back a decade.
