What's your early thoughts? I like the way Dobbs moves out of the pocket. #39, Watson I think, he looks pretty good. Don't think there I should a spot for him on the roster though unless we cut Toussaint.
Watched sporadically so I didn't get to see everything... Few tidbits I noticed
QB... Great performance by Dobbs. Showed some great big play ability, and also led the offense on a game winning drive. It's too late to supplant Jones, but he gave us a good glimpse of his potential for the future. Give the kid a year to learn & the game should slow way down for him. He'll be able to challenge Jones next season.
RB... Watson has sure made it very difficult for the coaches this weekend. I honestly don't know how they would be able to cut him. I'd love for him to stick around over Toussaint/Davis, but its not very likely.
WR... Coates looked pretty pathetic out there while Hunter thrived.
O-line... Hawkins got beat badly on that INT play at RT. His guy bursted around him & dipped the shoulder to basically get a free release on Jones' throwing arm.
D-line... Decent game by McCullers. Didn't splash off the stat sheet, but 1 tackle & 5 assists means he was gettin work done. Too little too late? I think so.
LB... Saw some good pass rushes from both Watt & Dupree. Great strip-sack by Dupree. But then on the next series he gets ran over by Fozzy at the goalline. To put that into perspective, Fozzy is 5'10" 200lbs & Bud is 6'4" 267lbs. Im' not even sure how that was physically possible. Good on Fozzy I guess, shame on Bud. LJ Fort has to make this team. The guy has been an all-star this preseason while Matakevich has been looking pretty pedestrian.
CB... Hilton with a decent game. 4 tackles & 1 sack. Brian Allen got beat badly on that TD play. Sutton gave up a big play before his injury. Sadly that injury may land him on IR which could save Cockrell from being cut. We'll have to wait & see.
DB... If Dangerfield's ankle injury is anything serious then watch out for Hagen to make the 53.
