Close to identical to mine. You could make arguments for Mays, ARod, Grove, Gibson and Eck, but that's pretty much how I've got it too

No Barry Bonds, Willie Mays or Clemens? Think those would by my only changes to yours. Possibly Rollie Fingers or Goose instead of Henke for LR.

I prefer Williams to Bonds I prefer Mantle to Mays. Not sure who I kick from the rotation to add Clemens... I just really liked Henke...

You can put Teddy at DH. He was an awful defender

Real question (because I never saw Bench play), but is there any real comparison to be made for him and say Pudge?

Obviously Bench had a lot more power, but Pudge has a pretty significant average advantage. Pudge with more GG's. Same amount of Allstars for each. Bench was 2x MVP, Pudge just the 1. Pudge had more speed.

pudge was good offensively but not special, but much better defensively than anything else...

Never saw bench play either, but his numbers show that he was both a great offensive catcher and a great defensive catcher... Although, I do think he was over-rated defensively... I think people just want to call him the best, so they think he was better than he was defensively... Yes, I get that his SB% against is ELITE...

Good offensively for Pudge was a career .296 average. OPS between him and Bench were .798 for Pudge and .817 for Bench. For reference Camp was .860 OPS and Berra .830.

Rickey Henderson is just the best lead off hitter in baseball, still hard to take him over Ted Williams... and I wouldn't in a who is better comparison... But I just don't like going so strong with pre 1920 players, so I cant take Ruth, Wagner, and Hornsby...

its all relative though... compared to the rest of the hitters of that era, he really wasn't special... his strength was his BA, he was in the top 10 in the AL 4 times, only once was he top 5... Never top 10 in the NL...

compare that to bench, bench was best known for his power... he was top 10 5 times in SLG% and was top 5 all 5 times

I really can't argue against any of this. It was difficult not to pick Henderson and I don't blame people for taking Bonds and obviously I understand Willie over Mickey, I am a bit surprised no Henke for you, I thought you appreciated him as much as I did.

I thought about Gibson as well but had to go Seaver.

I do like henke. But i don’t have him as a top 5 righty. I think ALL the best bullpens have to have Mariano, Wilhelm and Wagner. After those 3 you can defend a bunch of people.

I tried to edit. Took too long.

I added Eck.

Williams (L)PH
Mantle (S) PH/PR OF
Berra (L) C
Wagner (R) MI
Rose (S) UTL

There's my bench. I'll roll with a six man bullpen.

Kimbrel gets overlooked because he is a current. But his career stats are just as good as eckesley at his best. But has more elite seasons. Eck is overrated. He gets the you had to see him pitch. But he just wasn’t a closer for that much of his career and really only had a couple great seasons
