Italian group protests minor league team's new 'Pizza Rats' nickname

S.I (Yankees) Management has decided to promote the Staten Island Yankees Team by temporarily renaming it “The Staten Island Pizza Rats”. Yes! I would not kid you about such a thing. If you are slapping your forehead and asking, “What are they thinking? You are not alone. In their infinite wisdom, they have decided to add “Rats” to “Pizza” ( Yes! Pizza.. One of the few positive things people automatically associate with Italians and Italy). To say the least, that’s a pizza topping that gives me a bad case of (agita).

Ahhh old school Italian guys, I'm from Staten Island, these guys have nothing better to do, it's tougher these days to handle these problems with a few cinderblocks tied to some ankles in the Hudson, like the good ole days

I agree. I find them fun.

it's annoying that someone decided to take offence to it because pizza=Italian and they think they are being called Rats in some round about way.

They're going to be the St. Paul Raccoons tonight in honor of the raccoon that climbed that building a couple weeks ago.

Veeck is always good for a good promotion or two during a season.

One game this year, their numbers and names were upside down on their jerseys. I don't recall what the promotion was.

He taught his son a lesson, the only important color is green and if everyone can have fun while you're making that green, all the better.
