Well, after Verstappen surprised everyone last week in Malaysa, maybe he'll do it again in Japan this week. Should be another good race as we now have three teams vying for the championship. Never count out Hamilton and Team Petronas this late in the season.

Hamilton got on top during first practice but then heavy rain washed out P2 sessions. This should be very interesting.

hoping Red Bull proves to be able to challenge the top contenders

Past two races have been pretty interesting after a few dull Mercedes dominated ones

It is shaping-up to be a three-way race to the end BSF. After Verstappen blew by Hamilton last week, he just may have thee capability to do it again.

And just when one would think Hamilton and Team Petronas are faltering, Hamilton shatters the track record and takes the pole. After qualifying, the top six are: Hamilton, Bottas, Vettel, Ricciardo, Verstappen, Raikkonen.

    Hamilton
    Ricciardo
    Vettel
    Raikkonen

tough call, I didn't want to stick with the straight up qualifying results but it looks like it could go that way

Verstappen is probably due for more bad luck so I'll drop him from the top 4

Hamilton holds off Verstappen for the win in Japan. even though Bottas had a wreck in the third practice he managed to finish fourth. Verstappen is for real and really is putting together a late season charge. Onward we go.

forty_three: 0 points- No-show and is done for the season-mathematically eliminated
Retroram52: 6 points - Correctly selected Hamilton for the win

Congrats to Hank for nearly running the table. The race for the championship widens for Hamilton but here on the board it is beginning to tighten up. Onward we go to Austin, Texas.

That could be the race that ended the season, but it certainly thickened the plot in our contest....

Certainly it will be interesting to see which of you two can take this contest, I surged for a little but now that has since cooled. I will have to make some odd picks to see if I can catch a lucky break and get back in this

It's quite amazing how badly Vettel's championship hopes have collapsed in the past few races, Ferrari's were normally reliable this year and suddenly have hit a lot of technical woes...it seems Red Bull have surpassed them now

Hamilton is this year's champion without a doubt, just a formality at this point, he has to go without points the rest of the year for Vettel to win...which will not happen

Well I am aiming for my fourth championship in a row, so Hank may catch me but he is going to have to pass me!
