The Formula 1 version of the Indy 500 on the Memorial day week-end is this race on the French Riveria. Hamilton, Bottas, and the Mercs appear to have solved their problems that were exposed on the first race of the 2018 season and may be on the brink of breaking-out into one of their classical season-long dominance runs that could lead Hamilton to another championship.

Red Bull is haing in there. The young driving tandem of Verstappen and Riccardo are becoming an ever-increasing threat to give the Mercs a run for their money.

Ferrari appears to be fading a bit. Vettel has been flat-out disaterous in the last several races and Raikkonen has simply disappeared.

Nice to see Haas beginning to turn a corner as the sixth place finish in the last race was very positive. We shall see if they continue to make in-roads into the points-paying positions and maybe even a podium finish at some point.

In today's P2 the 2 RBs were on top with Ricciardo setting a new track record.

But the Ferraris and Mercs are close enough that if they are sandbagging even a wee bit and have other engine modes for qualifying, could end up in front.

RB is counting on being able to be in front because passing is virtually impossible at that fucking tack.

For the record, I'd be in favour of dumping Monaco.

Yea, that suggestion has been in the works dating back to Bernie Ecclestone's days at the helm of F-1.

Hamilton has historically had his problems at Monaco. This track favors Vettel and the Red Bull guys.

I was watching P2 yesterday.

The in-car shots were quite cool. The camera seemed to be really clear, felt like you were doing a lap with Vettel.

Verstappen crashes out in practice and ruins a gearbox. If his name was Kvyat or Maldonado he'd be in Formula E already...

Ricciardo has been very dominant all weekend. I'll go with Ricciardo for the win, Hamilton, Vettel, and Bottas. Raikkonen is really struggling this year and Bottas has too much to sit back in fifth and do nothing.

That race is so flippin boring. It's impossible to pass on that circuit with those cars.

It's rather stunning despite the comments mentioned about about the lack of ability to pass at Monaco that it's been several years since the pole sitter has won

Safety cars always can mix it up

Vettel
Ricciardo
Hamilton
Alonso - bold move I know

Monaco is quite the test, one error can ruin the whole weekend as Verstappen has learned

with this year's cars it's tough to tell if there will be any overtakes on the track. Lots of luck involved because it really all depends on when a safety car falls, typically we have at least one and with Verstappen being stuck with the backmarkers he will likely be the cause of it

If Verstappen doesn't start it that rookie who drives for Williams that's absolutely terrible likely will be the cause of it as he will probably crash on his own

Ricciardo takes it with a failing engine and they finished as they qualified with Vettel second, Hamilton, third and Raikkonen fourth.

Just about nailed it.

If Kimi had been able to scoot by Hamilton at the end there.....

I'll be going on vacation this weekend sir, so I'll throw in my early submission for Canada

It's a tough call, Mercedes are worried about not being able to use their upgrades but Hamilton has been unstoppable here most of the time

Hamilton
Vettel
Raikkonen
Ricciardo
