We occasionally see signs of brilliance in the Phils' starting pitchers but their performances have been erratic over the last two years. Most are healthy and seem to be capable, but obviously, they need more experience at the ML level and that will take time. There's a load of talent there so you have to be hopeful. Some will go the way of the Pettibons and Buchanans of the recent past. It's hard to say whether even a pitching coach change would speed things up but it might be worth a shot. Fans will have to be patient much longer. Drink up! :bored2: :drink:

You are a patient man jvett. We still have a couple of guys at Lehigh that could make it up next season
However I think we need to find at least one solid free agent to add on the mound next season.

I would think three of the eight I've listed have to become solid performers within the next two years, that is, guys who consistently produce acceptable ERAs and can win 15 games each year, but that means the pathetics' offense must do much better than the negative 20 point differential in BA and OBP they have vs their opponents. This is a two-year work project.

Any chance a new pitching coach would be a benefit?

DAVE RIGHETTI

or

MIKE MADDUX

Both are employed by other teams. However I wouldn't mind having either two get a shot at helping out the young kids.

I am thinking that they should promote Dave Lundquist who is with the Iron pigs. He knows the pitchers well and
has done a great job at Lehigh. Who better can work with the young guys than him?

It would be useful to track various pitcHIng coaches from teams with varying success and look at the coaches and try to see if any conclusions can be drawn. Like what happened to a team when McClure's replacement took over in the past. Part of it is obviously the talent in the pitchers to begin with and we have to realize that like I said above, this all takes time. Also, when teams score runs, pitchers aren't always pressing and might be more confident. Maybe Mack and Klentak have the answer.

What pisses me off is the owner of the dildoes seems content with this losing and so-called rebuilding project with present GM and manager in place. What owner does what he/they have been doing the last five or so years?
