1-Still a SEC school so they'll get recruits. Some kids in TN grow up wanting to play at UT and stay in state so fam and friends can see them play.....

2-Better football school than the others in TN like Vandy....think Furman might be in Tennessee, but they're in the lower level, the JV level......

3- They'll get the leftovers (in the South, still quality players) that can't get a scholarship at the elite schools in the SEC.

Furman is in Greenville, SC.

Cade Mays is a 5 star OL who is the son of former Tennessee All-SEC OL Kevin Mays and plays for Knoxville Catholic HS and last night he eliminated them from consideration.

Amari Rodgers is Tee Martin's son and last year he picked Clemson over Tennessee.

Lost in the hysterics of bringing back Fulmer, is the university gave the middle finger to the Haslam's. Jimmy Haslam wanted Fulmer out and was able to get Mike Hamilton to pull the trigger. John Currie was Hamilton's right hand man and was in charge of getting the other boosters on board with Haslam and Hamilton.

I predict at least 2 more years of mediocrity in Knoxville and at that point the program could have success or continue the trend over the past 10 years. Plenty to be seen, but in the long run taking back control from one family playing puppet master will benefit the entire school.

That's a few.....I think they will get their fair share of recruits.....somebody else (Vols) in this thread pointed out that the Vols don't suffer from bad recruiting classes......it's a coaching issue.

Didn't read the thread, but I just heard Fuller is looking to hire Tennessee's 5th coach in the last 11 years. I knew it was bad, but damn that is bad

They will be hiring their 4th coach in 9 years. Kiffin, Dooley, Jones, New guy. This hire will be the 5th coach in 10 years. Not bad for a Tejas fan though. Your program seems to be on the up.

I am happy!!!

The fact that people are criticizing this hire in the thread shows how really stupid some of the posters are on this message board.
Lets say we check back here in about a year and see if you feel the same way

If they get a decent head coach.....I'm going out on a limb and saying 6-6 in 2018 and 7-5 in 2019. Before the minor bowl games.

My favorite part of all this is that now I will be able to live out the rest of my life knowing that Alabama will always have the upper hand in this rivalry during my lifetime.

They got within a half dozen before we whipped off the last 11 straight. Now I can comfortably live the rest of my life secure in the knowledge that we will have the series edge for my entire lifetime.

Thanks Tennessee.

I wouldn't be surprised with that if it's Tee Martin, but I think he'll be a good hc in the long run. Jones had top 20 and 1 or 2 top 10 recruiting classes. Lost plenty to attrition, but also had guys like Alvin Kamara who would have had 100 or so less touches if Jalen Hurd hadn't quit, so there's no telling what kind of talent they have. Big problem is they strength and conditioning area. 2016 they had a grad assistant running the s&c and it has shown. Tennessee got physically pushed around by Kentucky and Vanderbilt both. Same with Mizzou. I wasn't surprised with Georgia, Florida and Bama but to get pushed around by KY and Vandy tells a larger story. Will be interesting to see how it unfolds.

With Fulmer as AD, the NCAA may want to just go ahead and rent an office in the athletic department. Save a bundle on travel costs
