No GM came close to doing what Rutherford did. I remember thinking we downgraded by replacing Ray Shero. Rutherford proved me wrong in a big way. First GM to win a Cup with 2 different teams (both times with rookie goalies) - proven winner!

True and I didn't like the Rutherford hire either but he has proven us all wrong, Thank-God!!!

Bennett to the Penguins East (aka Devils) for the 77th pick.

True, I'm surprised they got that high of a pick for him considering all the injuries.

Truthfully not surprised about Shultz due to the likes of Pouliot being here still and the 3.9 million cap hit.

Shultz is the only name I recognized on the Pens list.

Biggs came over in the Kessel trade. I former 1st rd pick that truly was overrated.
O'Donoghue and Melindy were filler who came over with Jeffrey in the trade.
Plachta came over for Plotnikov nothing but AHL filler in his first season playing in North America.
Ruopp came over in the deal that sent Michalek to the Coyotes. Went between the AHL/ECHL and never became more than a filler d-man. They were hoping he would have become more than he did.

With that they did qualify Dominik Uher even though he will play in the Czech Republic and then Anton Zlobin is not in the list but wasn't qualified. He was another they drafted who had dynamic offensive skill but injuries killed his development, he is going back to the KHL on a try out deal.

Penguins' Matt Cullen puts off retirement; team hopes to re-sign him

Not sure how it will work under the cap but will be interesting if they can resign him. I have a feeling a team will give him a lot more than what the Penguins can offer.

Yeah but he may not chase the money with a cup repeat as an option.

That would be cool if he did. Even if he plays less during the regular season so that Sundqvist plays more but still good depth to have.

Then it looks like Jeffrey, Zlobin, Uher, Plachta and Niclas Anderson all went back to play in Europe.
