Brandon Flowers was at Gillette yesterday getting a physical and working out for Matt Patricia, Steve Belichick and Bill Belichick.

Flowers a 10 year veteran was draft in 2008 by the KC Chiefs and played until this year for the San Diego Chargers.

Flowers is 5'9.5" and 190 lbs. 31 years old.

He wasn't offered a contract but the buzz is that he might be a possible fallback if Cyrus Jones can't play CB. BB wants him to be able to go on the field and play his position and return kicks. He couldn't do either last year. If he can't do both, he might be looking for a job elsewhere.

Not sure what he has left in the tank, but always good to kick the tires. He was a solid CB in his prime.

Well I hope Jones has moved past his issues he does have quality skills. But I would be okay with Flowers in a pinch Vet Exp is a nice bonus

Flowers is good for about 4 games a year. Then he will be off and on the field for a few more then miss the rest. Only played in 16 games once 6 seasons ago. At one time was a great player when on the field but I think those days are behind him. Good to always kick the tires though and just see what maybe they have. Could also be more for later in the season say an injury comes up that you have that communication with that player already built up.

Yes, I do hope Cyrus can live up to the potential Bill saw in him.

With the Pats and not someone who picks him up after Bill cuts him...

Flowers will be the slot corner here and will prob do good vs other teams 3rd WR. I don't think this move is based on Jones. If we wait for the end of camp, he wont he available, and Jones is not going anywhere. If Glass Dowling can last 3 season, I think Cy Jones is OK. I think it would be a good fit. Can never have to many CB ready to go.

The difference there is Ras-IR played well on the rare occasions he actually managed to be on the field. They desperately tried to give Vyrus a role and he was terrible on both D and ST. He's going to need a spectacular camp to make this team.

He only started 2 games for them and was on IR the rest of the time. Jones roles last yr was to handle punts and he failed at that. He played some good CB when he was on the field. He is making this team....

If by "playing some good CB" you mean "sucked so bad they had to trade for Eric Rowe and then lost his dime PT to Jonathan Jones," or, "at least didn't monkey-fuck his way all over the field like he did when he tried to return kicks and punts," then sure, I guess.

I see Flowers as a mid season pick-up after an injury nothing more. Not worth a regular roster spot, too old.
The problem is getting Jones to hang on to the ball.
That's the issue.

We've been down this road before. You have your opinions and I have mine. TO each his own...:suds:

I never said anything about punts or KO. I said good CB play.

Not just shoeshine. Many of us are ready to see the Virus gone unless he shines in camp.

So after he 1 season as rookie you are ready to get rid of him? We won a SB last yr. I admit he fucked up and was a HUGE disappointment, but damn....you guys are rough.....LOL

Cyrus has been playing well in camp. Everybody in the secondary is playing well. Tough decisions ahead!

Only person I have ready about struggling is Coleman and I don't think he makes it. Moore has out played him.

Yep. We've discussed before. I hope I'm proved wrong but I won't hold my breath.

I would just hate to see the kid go out like that...It just goes to show how much football is mental as it is talent. Those punt fuck ups really messed with him. Hard not to root for him.

That's great. Now can you help point out what he looks like? All I remember seeing was his back chasing receivers downfield.
