RIP, and thanks for finally putting the Padres on the map by spending some money. Glad the team will remain with the family.

This is just life as a Padres fan. We've been wishing for decades for an owner willing to spend. We finally get one, and he dies.

Having lived in Sd for over 15 years, I'm still a huge Padres fan (go figure). Sure they had an owner that would spend money----what they've needed for decades is a GM that would spend it in the right places.

Mr. Seidler was Walter O'Malley's grandson and Peter O'Malley's nephew. He obviously came from a baseball family and knew and loved the game. He had the resources to spend lavishly on the team and took advantage of the monopoly he had in professional sports in the area. Hopefully, someone will step in and continue to move the team forward.
