The Green Bay Packers have signed G Jahri Evans. Ted Thompson, Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations, announced the signing Wednesday.

(Jah-REE) Evans, a 6-foot-4, 318-pound 12th-year player our of Bloomsburg (Pa.) University, was selected by the New Orleans Saints in the fourth round (108th overall) of the 2006 NFL Draft. He has been voted to six Pro Bowls, named to The Associated Press All-Pro team four times and selected to the Pro Football Weekly/Pro Football Writers Association All-NFL team three times. In 11 seasons with the Saints, he started all 169 games he played in during the regular season and all 10 postseason contests he appeared in. Evans 169 games played since 2006 are the most by an active NFL offensive lineman over that span. He has started 16 regular-season games nine times in his career, including last season. Evans will wear No. 73 for the Packers.

Low cost veteran offensive line depth. I see little downside to this signing.

At a cheap price tag this only helps us. He isn't the most athletic but he is durable

I like it. At this rate it wouldn't surprise me if TT signed Charles too. Concentrate on defense in the draft

Evans has been a 6 time pro bowler and 5 time all pro player but at his age is probably only a stopgap for Green Bay.

HE is meant to be a stop gap...so this is one of those rare moments for TT where price and value met. I like the signing.

I just hope this works out better than the Saturday signing. The worst part of that was when he made the pro bowl based on his name even after getting benched. It hurt the Packers in the subsequent draft when they lost a comp pick.

Evans IMO is the starter at one of the OG positions. Barclay and Taylor are going to be fighting it out for the other one, barring a good showing from the rookie Amichia. Also don't forget about McCray. TT has done a good job balancing the OL losses with young talent the last 3 years.

Unless Taylor falls off of a cliff the LG spot is his. He wasnt a pro bowler last year but he was more than adequate.

Exactly...I thought cutting Sitton could've been a disaster and Taylor handled the spot like a pro...after a game or 2 I stopped watching him because I wasn't really concerned about the job he was doing...and that's about as good a compliment you can give an olineman...if you don't hear their name on the telecast, it's usually a very good thing
