Nice opposite field double by Gallo. Need to see more of that.

On this date in 1999 Fernando Tatis hit 2 grand slams in the same inning against the same pitcher. Do you all remember Tatis when he was with the Rangers? Had forgotten about that guy.

Oh I remember him very well, was supposed to be our next can't miss prospect at one time. Was a hell of a talent and then I believe he had a pretty severe injury that contributed to him not panning out as such

I didn't see anything along the lines of a severe injury, but after his career year in 1999, he battled an assortment of injuries that kept him off the field a great deal

I remember him and Reuben Mateo.

Maybe you are thinking of Reuben Mateo. He had a terrible ankle injury going into first base one night and had to be carted off. He never was the same afterwards. I was at that game.

Good question. Elvis >Profar IKF>Odor goes for off/def imo.
Never good to have an injury. imo
No, the injuries are never good. I am just thinking that in those cases that we may have been more productive overall with their combined replacements.

That wasn't me, somebody else said they thought Tatis had a severe injury, based on what I could find there was nothing about a severe injury derailing Tatis' career, seemed more like nagging ones

I vividly remember Mateo's career going down the tubes, seems like we had a lot of bad luck like that for a while

Someone mentioned a comparison between Michael Young and IKF. The kid has done very well so far, but I think we should tap the brakes on the Michael Young comparison. IKF has a career OPS in the minors of .678 while MY has a career OPS in the minors of .817. The kid's OPS did go up over 100 points last year compared to 2016 though so he is definitely trending up. It isn't fair to him to compare him to MY yet though.

Remember Dave Hostetler!

Hostetler had a slash line of .326/.415/.826 through his first 46 AB.

Yeah, I meant to comment on Murph's post. Sorry about that.

It wasn't an ankle injury. He broke his leg so severely, when he fell over 1st base, his foot hit him in the back of his head. One of the ugliest injuries I ever witnessed. I mean, turn your stomach ugly.

He was never the same after that. But I also think he suffered from 'reading his own press clippings' too.

Remember Dave Hostetler!

I met him through a business partner way back when, and what a terrific guy.

He played in Memphis when I was originally living in Memphis and he swore that the Redbirds AAA team was the best team he ever played with (we had Tim Raines, Gary Carter, and Tim Wallach) and he played with 3 different ML teams.

It was such a shame. I looked and he was hitting .291 when he got hurt. He was just starting to get to a level that everyone expected when he was coming up through the system.

Yeah, you're right. He had a lot of skills, and he could really go get it in the OF. That was the thing which stood out to me.

I have noticed that. Still put the shift on him but that may be because he hits his ground balls to the right. Would like to see the average come up and I think it will over time.
