Greetings! For the 2nd straight year, I'll be giving you guys an objective look at the college basketball season. No wild predictions (since it's almost impossible to pick a national champion in preseason), no talking about the NIT or the CBI (which you guys don't really care about).

No, instead I'll just give you news stories, holiday-tournament slates, and most importantly the games that'll MEAN something! And it'll start right now...

That was a decent road win for Wake. Down to seven scholarship players (hoping we get two of them back fairly soon) and beat a team that I believe will turn out to be a pretty good Patriot league team.

Cincinnati dropped 106 on Robert Morris today. Robert Morris is a tourney team. Beat them by over 60.

I am not a robot, sir. About your previous post, it was good that Cincinnati won in a dominating fashion.
But here's the reason why I don't really respond to the posts: I'm a football fan for the most part. And plus, it's too early right now to make any definitive judgments about a team or conference. I just find interesting games for casual CBB fans to watch, and break down the MANY holiday tournaments going on.

That being said, once the Super Bowl finishes up in early February, we'll know which teams are legit NCAA contenders or not. Once that time comes, THEN I'll be really invested in the game of basketball.

Wake has lost four scholarship players since August, but that is no excuse for Manning to give two walk-ons starter minutes.

Wake is going to lose to Richmond. I was pro Manning, but he has really shown that he is a poor in-game coach so far.

Down 78-66 with 8:12 remaining, Wake Forest rallied to pull within 84-82 on Bryant Crawford's 3-pointer with 3:04 left. But Davis responded with a jumper 19 seconds later, and Richmond closed out the game by scoring the final seven points.

7 of 15 threes as opposed to the Spiders 11-23, 19-33 from the line for WF, and 20 turnovers while Richmond committed 8 was the difference in this one.

Crawford is going to be a great player at Wake, so is John Collins.

FWIW, that jumper was a result of poor defense by a walk-on. Wake right now is basically playing seven scholarship players, with three of them being Freshmen. It showed down the stretch last night with several ill timed turnovers.

Manning's lineups are very frustrating. CMM, who was All-ACC honorable mention last night, is hurt and all of his minutes are basically being given to a former walk-on (who only received a scholarship because Madison Jones got kicked off the team). If Wake doesn't get Cornelius Hudson back for Maui, that isn't going to be a pretty trip for the Deacs.
