I was told we were trying to move up for Mixon once Cook was selected.

I think if the Broncos had drafted Cook or Mixon - Charles would not be on their radar this year -so these things seem reasonable to me.

Last 10 years QB traded up for in round 1. Seems teams are desperate and taking players that are not worthy of a 1st round pick. Flacco is the only one that has done anything.
The QB from 2016 who knows I'd say the odds are not in Lynch's favor.

Brady Quinn
Josh Freeman
Mark Sanchez
Blaine Gabbert
RGIII
Joe Flacco
Tim Tebow
Johnny Manziel
Teddy Bridgewater
Jared Goff
Carson Wentz
Paxton Lynch
Patrick Mahomes
Desean Watson
Mitch Trubisky

Definitely not the best list. Part of what did make Joe Flacco so successful is they did surround him with talent on both sides of the ball. Elway has shown to be more than adequate in doing just that for a QB so just have to see what he can do now with the talent around him.

I would also add that about half that list we have no clue how it is going to turn out as they are so raw to the position and the NFL. And just looking at that list of the other QB's before 2 years ago Bridgewater was looking like a decent starter and RGIII was rookie of the year but both had careers derailed by injury. Sanchez actually had a good team around him and helped take his team to 2 AFC Championship games so not a complete failure. Quinn and Manziel were drafted by the Browns. Not sure any QB during that stretch would have been successful with the hot mess they are as a team.

These past 2 drafts though will definitely be a huge testing point for future teams of the worth of trading up for a QB especially to use a 1st round pick. Trubisky and Paxton are the only 2 among that group that didn't cost a team a future 1st round pick so the risk isn't quite as big with them.

Didn't somebody throw that particular stat on here just recently? I also find it interesting and somewhat telling.
