This is my dog back home, Oreo. She's pretty awesome, and when I come home for a week after being away for 6-8 months, she lets me know she missed me. :)

That's a damn cute dog stone. :thumb:

If you want a lazy ass couch potato dog, rescue a retired greyhound. It seems counterintuitive, but they are they lasziest ass lap dogs on the planet! LOL.

The Flyers used to bring in a few greyhounds for some reason to games. They would just sit there with their owners in the atrium, not giving a damn who was touching them and such. Very friendly. And soft. :)

Cool thread. Here's my 2 cents. My grandmother had a Doberman named Misty. This dog was fat as Hell...and had one ear up and one ear down. I don't know if they still do this...but..they used to clip thier tails and tape their ears so they stood up. Well... One of Misty's ears didn't take. She was a gentle, loveable creature. She passed away around around 1979 or '80...it was my first experience in losing something that I loved. I will never forget that dog.

Dobermans are great. I had one as a kid (Aria). We clipped her tail and taped her ears. Such great alert dogs. They're on my list as well for when I actually purchase some land.

Shame everyone wouldn't. All of my dogs have been adopted from shelters, or given to me by someone who couldn't (or wouldn't) take care of them anymore. I've owned dogs all my life, ever since I was a little kid we always had a dog.

I couldn't justify not adopting. Just couldn't. "Oh I'm going to spend thousands on getting a high pedigree dog just to have as a pet!" If you're showing them or trialing them, sure...as a pet? No. I couldn't do it.

+1 on this.

My mom volunteers for a cat rescue organization, and it's heartbreaking some of the stories she tells about some of the cats that come in there.

All three of our cats are from rescue shelters and every cat that I had before and every cat I'll have after will come from a rescue shelter.

Not counting the stray that my wife adopted, since I guess we were the rescue shelter on that one :)

Props to all of you helping those animals that do not have homes and would probably not have a life at all without you.

Big ups!!

I was thinking "Target Acquired: Sic Balls". See its amusing because it combines a well liked and popular sci fi movie with a well liked bittersweet coming of age period piece.

I laughed out loud because I appreciated the combination of a well liked and popular sci fi movie with a well liked bittersweet coming of age period piece.

Maybe Dog of the Year should be a new Hookies category...

...when I find the time to get around to the Hookies. :L

Well the way the season is shaping up or not I'd say there is no hurry.
