Semi-finals are set in London with Milos facing Andy Murray tomorrow and Joker versus Nishikori. Andy is playing great tennis these days so I don't hold out much hope for Milos (plus Andy has the home crowd advantage), but I hope to see a competitive match.

If Joker and Murray both advance to the finals, it's a winner take all for #1. So I've heard.

With Wawrinka's loss earlier today, unless Nishikori wins the London tourney, Milos will finish the season as the #3 ranked player in the world.

That's one of the best tennis matches I've ever watched, unfortunately the wrong guy prevailed in the end.

Milos will finish the season #3. That's pretty good. Maybe he wins a major next year, who knows?

Ugh. Don't the gas company ppl need to make contact with you somehow - either via notice left on the door or phone call or e-mail - before showing up needing access?

Either way, that shit's disgusting. Wish her the best.

Update - Pretty good news regarding Petra Kvitova...

PRAGUE, Czech Republic — Petra Kvitova could return to tennis in about six months, the surgeon who operated on the two-time Wimbledon champion’s left hand said Wednesday.

Kvitova was injured Tuesday when a knife-wielding intruder attacked her at her home in the town of Prostejov. The attacker is still at large and police have asked the public for help.

Kvitova underwent nearly four hours of surgery on Tuesday at a specialized clinic in the northern town of Vysoke nad Jizerou.

"When we talk about (playing tennis), it will take about six months," said surgeon Radek Kebrle of the Hand and Plastic Surgery Institute. "It’s a serious injury and we have to deal with that accordingly.

"She's young and healthy and has long, slim fingers," he said. "That's a good prognosis."

Milos defeats Dustin Brown (the other one from Germany) in straight sets 6-3, 6-4, 6-2. Next up, a tricky opponent in Gilles Muller from Luxembourg.

Djok choked.

Denis Istomin played unbelievably well, I stayed up to watch the match in its entirety and while the Joker was not at his best, I don't think anybody on this planet beats Istomin yesterday (maybe Murray because he probably would have killed Istomin via physical fatigue). In the 5th set, Joker wasn't frustrated as much as he was stunned in disbelief (look on his face was how is this guy continuing to make these shots?).

Jesus, such sickening stupidity...

Furious tennis fans have called for an American commentator to be fired after he was accused of comparing African-American tennis superstar Venus Williams to a gorilla at the Australian Open. The controversial comment was made by ESPN’s Doug Adler during Williams’ second-round match at the first Slam of the year in Melbourne against Stefanie Voegele. The 59-year-old former professional player was describing the pressure Williams was putting on the second serve of her Swiss opponent.

‘She misses a first serve and Venus is all over her,’ Adler said. ‘You see Venus move in and put the gorilla effect on. Charging.’

What it provoked was a wave of outrage on social media, including from New York Times tennis writer Ben Rothenberg who was furious at the comment.

‘This is some appalling stuff,’ Rothenberg tweeted. ‘Horrifying that the Williams sisters remained subjected to it still in 2017.’

But Rothenberg was not alone in feeling horror at the remark with Richard Ings tweeting: ‘That is unacceptable commentary. Appalling stuff.’

Meanwhile, our boy Milos moves from one Gilles to the next (takes care of Muller in straight sets and moves on to face Simon on Friday).
