OT: 2018 Winter Olympics

I curled for years, mixed curling was always 2 guys and 2 girls. Turned this on for the Olympics and WTF????

I don't like it at all. Two-person teams, you start with 2 rocks already on the ice, etc. Bleah. And I bet they didnt even offer to buy a drink for the Norwegians.

Went to bed and missed the end of the CAN-NOR semifinal. Glad to hear CAN won, they looked like they were choking big time. Tried too often for the "OMG I dont believe it" shots rather then play solid strategy. CAN was up half way but they should have had the match on cruise control.

'twas a good (as in very bad) match. Canada kept trying o give it away, but Norway couldn't finish it. In the 7th, Norway could have limited damage and sailed the rock right through without hitting anything giving the Canadians 3 in the end and an 8-4 lead.





And I couldn't help but notice that in the figure skating (once they got over the three hours of talking about figure skating and, you know, SHOWED figure skating) that the Canadian team had three people wearing flannel shirts in the team box.

I love his commentary, because he's basically just an enthusiastic, hyperbolic fan, but goodness is his hair terrible, and he's honestly not all that insightful, so it's kind of hard to learn anything about the sport from him.

So, I have tried to get the NBC Sports app on my tablet. Took a while, but I got it loaded and signed into my cable provider.

Literally the ONLY part of the app that works is the "Profiles Channel".

Like I want to spend any time watching 3 minute, soft focus piano music accompanied stories about how some speed skater overcame a hangnail.


Who is showing the Olympics up north? I'll VPN and watch from "up there".

TSN's app doesn't support my tablet, but works on my phone.

CBC appears to only be showing a replay of snowboarding and bitching that the Canadian chick didn't get a do-over.

BBC iPlayer has learned my VPN IP range and blocked it.

Kim wants the perfect score, but I don't think she'll actually need to improve on her first run to win gold. Jiayu had a real nice second run, but I don't think she can go much bigger than she just did, and she still have four points to make up.
