Why not throw a bullet to Jake Butt?
Not ashamed at all of how we played but it stunk to high heaven walking those 50 stairs back up and out to the concourse...
......still had a great time despite the final score. We have a lot of work to do this off-season (granted) but I kept reminding everyone I was with how many freshmen were making plays yesterday and the playmakers on their way in.
We have one more game to prepare for this season. We'll have great national exposure once again and should pull off an upset, if we play like we did yesterday.
I say yes always go for the win
Yes, their defense was getting shredded and they had nothing to lose.. The season was already lost IMO, so going for the win was probably the right decision in hindsight..
Good question, I would have done a boot roll with a run/pass option (with Funchess and Butt being the pass options) and let Gardner win the game. But then again, I'm not Borges
Yes, of all the things to question about that game - I question the play call at the end. Sure, it's easier to question when it doesn't work but that bunched WR formation has hat little success all year long. We needed to spread out the OSU defense, get four or five wideouts and have Devin roll out to the long side of the field. This gives Devin the chance to improvise and/or gives him potential time to find WRs.
I think they called a play and from the get go it was going to go to Dileo - open or not. Devin just threw it in his direction as soon as he got the ball and, to me, that's just flipping the coin rather than trying to execute a play that gives you multiple ways to succeed. It may have worked if we were trying to catch OSU off guard, but as soon as the T/O was called - then a more creative play should have been implemented.
Thank you, whoever stickied this thread.
