Ughh

1st 3 Nats reach of deGrom ( single, walk, walk) in the 6th.

Zimmerman up....bags loaded...no outs.

Zimm pops out.

Kendrick lined out

Turner whiffs looking on a wicked slider.....then got tossed for arguing with the HP ump.

No damage done.

Nice job by Jake of mitigating potential disaster.

I Love it. Fuck da gnatz.

Nice start for the Mets.

Yep....I know it's early, and there's still a long way to go, and hopefully I'm not jinxing anything, but if this team can find a way to stay relatively healthy (especially pitching) they could be a force and a legit pennant contender.

So far, so good.

Last year everyone was so high on the Mets, then they had all the injuries. They went into this season with much the same team (I would say a better team with Frazier and the reliever who I can't spell who just got hurt) and everyone said 70 something wins. This Mets team reminds me of how I felt about the Yanks going into last year. They can win 90 or lose 90 and neither would surprise me. Vegas had them at 82 wins I think and I would have bet the over when they got out of the Spring healthy.

Last year was absolute torture with that team wide injury epidemic.
Frazier was definitely a nice get by Sandy....AdGon too.
Obviously bringing back Bruce to give Cespy & some of the others in the lineup protection will help.
Also the new Mgr & coaching staff brings in a fresher look, better attitude & newer philosophy to the dugout/clubhouse.

Great start against the division. Win the season series against the Nats and we are a playoff team.

So far Callaway has been doing a real nice job of pushing all the right buttons, and pulling all the right strings.

The players are having fun and it's showing, and they're responding.

TC more than likely would've found a way to botch this one and give it away.

Btw: Matz was much better today than he was in his last outing.

TRAINER'S ROOM:

Mets: LHP Jason Vargas (broken right hand) was slated to throw a simulated game in Florida on Saturday.

UP NEXT:

In the series finale Sunday night, Nationals RHP Tanner Roark (1-0, 1.29 ERA) will face Mets RHP Matt Harvey, who threw five scoreless innings in his first start of 2018 but did not factor in the decision. Roark has been terrific against the Mets at Nationals Park, going 4-1 with a 2.30 ERA

I honestly think we'll be a playoff team regardless...but yeah, it would be nice to knock those gNats down a notch or 2 moving forward.
