I don't watch much network TV. Caught a few minutes of this tonight. FYI, the doctor (Finn) had a recurring role in Star Trek DS9. (Kasidy Yates)

Watched the first one yesterday. Liked it.

Seth created this show guys. It's a sit comedy. The SCI Fi is just the situation.

This one wasn't as good.
Ok I guess.
Don't see how this goes long term.

The Sci Fi premise was excellent in this one with the Zoo thing but the execution fell flat.
Not funny much at all.

I thought the 2nd episode was better.

If there are 3000 ships in the federation, I think it would be funny if they got the bottom of the barrel jobs that nobody else wants. That could open up a whole of possibilities with where they can go with this.

"she called you a bitch 46 times at dinner..... well, the other people started complaining" is the kind of joke that I find amusing. Good misdirection.

I'll keep watching for a bit. Not even close (so far) to being on 'Firefly's' level. Kind of a throwback to Star Trek in terms of look/pacing/art design/costumes/ethos.

Everything is bright and shiny, the animations are VERY linear and glossy looking (almost anti-Battlestar Galactica)

Watch The Expanse if you want better story/fx/acting.

But I'm in, for now on Orville.

Agreed on most all, especially the Firefly/Expanse comments.

Did you ever see Farscape?

I tried Farscape, never could quite get into it. I should probably try again.

The premise of this ep would have worked much better later in the season. For it to really work, it needed more chemistry between the crew.

Overall, I just don't know what to think about this show. The comedy is sparse and not very funny; the costumes are horrendous; the SFX is actually good and the SciFi stories are pretty good (in a Star Treky sorta way). I just don't get the sense that the show REALLY knows what it wants to be.

Yeah, if it's going to be a 'dramedy,' they're cutting corners. The whole crew freaks out that they aren't going to go against the rules to rescue their BRAND NEW Captain and first officer. Might have made sense in episode 5 or 6 after they've built some camaraderie.

I'll keep watching for a while to see if maybe it hits its stride, but I'm not optimistic.

Anyone know if the numbers nosedived between week 1 and 2?

Week 1 - 2.7 rating with 8.56 million viewers
Week 2 - 2.4 rating with 6.63 million viewers

The more interesting thing to see is what it will get when it is airing behind Gotham on Thursday nights in its regular time slot instead of Sunday nights with football airing before it.

I dunno. Watched it last night and it didn't do all that much for me. A lot of played out scifi tropes that have been done too many times.

They have some good jokes but they fall flat. I think it is intended that way.

I am going to keep going for now but some things better change.

I like it, I'll watch it. It's not like the networks have anything on worth a shit anyhow.
