Watched it and it wasn't bad.
It's science fiction and comedy so it has that.

    The special effects weren't terrible.

I'll watch the second episode next Sunday to make sure I like it.
    I'd give it a 6.5/10.

Not sure I like it as much as Firefly. Not as tight.

    But I'll give it time.

There's plenty of material to choose from, but the first episode was a bit stiff.
I'll keep watching as it still has potential and maybe has to find its stride...

a couple of things... I originally thought it was going to be more of a comedy, and only a half hour show... After watching the hour pilot, i cant imagine it being anything but an hour show... And i felt like they went much more action than comedy... So, i have no clue what this shows identity is... Willing to watch, as it was a pretty decent pilot, but i do question the Seth McFarlane actor choice if this is not more of a comedy...

I wasn't planning on watching this show just because McFarlane was in it. He has a bad habit of inserting himself too much into his own shit. Family Guy isn't a bad show, but it's at its worst IMO when they're forcing big, unfunny song and dance numbers so that Seth can "show off" his vocals. American Dad has been the better show for a while now (although I admit I haven't watched either show religiously in 10 years) and I think a lot of that is because McFarlane isn't as involved.

Television wise you could also look at the new Cosmos show which generally sucked ass because half of each episode involved forced animated flashbacks to Isaac Newton or Tesla as children with all the voice acting done by McFarlane.

Can't speak for him in movies because I've only seen Ted 1 but that was at least decent, probably because he didn't write himself into the movie as four different people and add a 10 minute song and dance number.

FYI, Ted 2 was a lot better and funnier than Ted 1. I didn't care for the first one.

I'll take a gander at it at some point but it doesn't look good to me... At least the previews I saw... Haven't seen it yet so I can't truly say one way or another

    Me too.
I just don't see much long term potential in it unless they ditch the campy comedy aspect a bit and concentrate on science fiction stories.

    It wouldn't be that hard.
It looks like there was some actual thought put into it.

So if the marriage councilor was her brother in law, that would make him either his BROTHER or his brother in law as well...

You're an old fuddy duddy, Hank. Ted 2 was hilarious and way better than the first one.

Smoke some weed and then watch it.

    Not my idea of funny.

I'll keep watching for a bit. Not even close (so far) to being on 'Firefly's' level. Kind of a throwback to Star Trek in terms of look/pacing/art design/costumes/ethos.

Everything is bright and shiny, the animations are VERY linear and glossy looking (almost anti-Battlestar Galactica)

Watch The Expanse if you want better story/fx/acting.

But I'm in, for now on Orville.
