"restructure" - the Cowboy way to get under the cap. If they sign a guy to a big contract there's a pretty good chance they restructure him at least twice. This is why cutting Dez was so huge. They finally have a guy they cut the cord with and after this year it will really help their cap.

Wow its going to be touuuuuuugh to extend DeCastro now. He's UC through 2021 so there's plenty of time. He'll be getting close to $10mil ($8.75m base + $1.7m bonus) per year in the last 2 seasons of his contract so he shouldn't get disgruntled. And I think he's still receiving the pro-rated signing bonuses around $3mil per year on top of all that.
If he's locked up until 2021 they might want to redo his deal early, because you just know another G will get more next year, if not one surely will in 20.

They wont be able to keep that OL in tact.......Too much talent to pay everybody.

Odd because 4/5 of them are signed for at least 3 more years I believe.

You are correct not sure about Collins and I was unaware Fredrick got that pricey extension..........That unit will be good for awhile with Fredricks, Smith and now Martin locked up.

Next up is Collins and he looks to be the weak link, so they can simply let him walk. The rest are all under contract at least through 2021

Average starting NFL Guard seems to be getting $7 mill a year at the moment. $14 mil for one of the best? Eh....

Its not the worst contract ever but thats definitely not one you want to make, imo.

Andrew Norvell got $13.3M average. I'm ecstatic Dallas only gave Martin $14M. I figured $14M was the starting point. This is one I definitely want to make to the best Guard in the game.

I want to see the details. I heard $40M guaranteed and I think $20M SB. From seeing other Cowboy contracts I'll guess year 6 is a little higher than the others (maybe $16M) and I'll guess year 1 and 2 salaries are guaranteed. So if the cap hit of the SB is spread out over 5 years, year 6 is probably "cuttable" if the Cowboys want. So I'll guess it's really a 5 year $68M deal. If he stays healthy it'll end up a Great deal. By year 3 we will be laughing at which "average" Guards are making more than him.

That's why the draft pick this year was so important. That kid is flexible to play guard or beef up and play tackle. At least buy them another year to draft or find one. We also got Cameron Fleming who should be dependable depth at T.

I don't know about Weak Link. I'd have to say that is Connor Williams right now. Collins is 24 YO and just played his first year at Tackle and he had a back so bad last year that he wasn't even able to practice during the week and still came on strong at the end. Connor Williams has never played an NFL game and while he likely will start it's not guaranteed. If he is better than Collins that will make Williams one of our best 2nd round picks in quite a while.

Fair enough, I should have said out of known players. As of now we have no idea if Williams is an NFL Lineman or not.

This is what I don't like about the cap.

You draft well and they really pan out, eventually it bites you.

Guy is worth it for sure but so is Smith, Fredrick, etc. And Elliott and Prescott due in the future too.

I wouldn't be opposed to some two tier thing where those you draft who you wish to keep shouldn't punish the fucking cap as much as a high priced free agent.

I agree. Dallas has been the best team in the league drafting 1st rounders and now are paying the price. There should be some cap discount if you’re resigning your draft picks. It’s really remarkable what they’ve done. Dez, T Smith, fredricks, Martin, Zeke. Everyone might be the best at their position except Dez and he gave them some great years.

Zach Fulton got $7 million a year for 4 years last year and I thought he was basically a replacement level guard/interior lineman. A pro bowl level player for twice that does seem like a good deal.

Its not difficult to see what the Cowboys are doing here. They also have Travis Frederick locked up for a long time so it would appear that they are built to win with the running back for basically all of Zeke's prime.

They're doubling down on what they've been doing the past four years.
