lol-

well - Dan is WILLING to pay for it- he is not going to be a hypocrite and ask teh players to take paycuts and then go out and cut the payroll to save a few bucks on the luxury tax

can you believe the audacity of an owner doing that? asking guys to take paycuts for the good of the team- but then amnestying a key role player because they want to save some cash on the tax?

its insane- and is without a doubt a piece of the puzzle why Lebron is in Cleveland- it may not be a big piece- but it is a piece- because Lebron knows Gilbert will spare no expense- he never has and never will

how can you possibly know that?- not once since Gilbert has owned the team has he EVER decided not to make a move because of the financial ramifications-

he could by and sell the Buss' 3 times over at least

i didnt sayit was stupid- i was it was insanely expensive

but Gilbert can afford it - especially if he is generating the kind of money he expects to with a team that has LeBron/Love and Kyrie-3 of the most marketabble players in the league on one team-

i mean-the guy is one of the richest men in the US - and is only getting richer with his new casinos and Quicken

he has cash to burn and has proved it ever chance he has gotten that money is no object to him in his quest to bring a title to Cleveland

ya know whats worth more than a huge TV that you have to pay a shit load of revenue sharing out of- and that the trust is owned by multiple family members each of who the Lakers is their primary income?

a nationa mortgage company that generates billions a year- and multiple casinos

or being a huge % owner of microsoft like Allen

or owning- i believe- Carnival Cruiselines like Arison

or owning a bunch of natural resource companies like Prokohrov

all of those POOP on the Lakers TV deal - and as i said- the Lakers dont even get to keep all of that! they pay a significant amount into revenue sharing!

all i have said is i think the Cavs will reach the finals and win 61 games- compared to a lot of people out there in the national media that is EXTREMELY modest- and i have said how Dan Gilbert is EXTREMELY wealthy and has never shot down a move because of money concerns- while other owners have- and that guys like Gilbert, Allen, Arison, Cuban - were self made- instead of inheriting their teams from their brilliant fathers- and in the case of jimmy buss and dolan- fall FAR from the tree and have shown absolutely no aptitude what so ever in having their own successes

One could pretty much search any pages here when the topic is Gilbert/luxury tax and find Wiggy telling us that that no dollar amount is important to him if he's bettering the team UNTIL today.
Now all of the sudden, because its happening apparently, it is the prudent thing to do.

wow...from July of '14....pretty prophetic if i dont say so myself.....

Gilbert doesnt need to argue differently as long as he is ready to REALLY REALLY open up his checkbook like the mad-Russian has...

If he is willing to pay 40-50 in lux. tax then he can still be consistent with the CBA he pushed for.....

plus- with how high the salary cap is going to climb in the next few years since its tied to revenue- if hecan get Love signed up quick before the next TV contract - and with Kyrie signed up- those contracts will be less of a % of the cap (the same argument has been made with deals for Heyward and other guys)

but yah- i definitely do get what you are saying

your an idiot if you think its pure dollars why Delly and Mozgov arent on the team. If there was an unlimited cap and it was like baseball the CAvs payroll would be EVEN HIGHER...but u cant sign everyone and able to add players without flexibility.....

sure- when there are things that are use it or lose it- like the mid level exception- you will NEVER see Gilbert not spend....when they see a prospect they like in the draft but dont have a pick- Gilbert will spend the most ANYONE ever has to secure the pick and the guy they like- If another team wants to get rid of a guy and give up an asset to do it- if possible Gilbert will pay the cash and take your draft pick- something he has done over, and over and over again.

Gilbert is writing a lux tax check thats over 50 million dollars sometime in the next week....thats the same amount Dwayne Wade wants from the Heat for his years of sacrifice and is CERTAINLY not out of line on a 2 year deal with what other guys are getting around the league like Evan Fournier or Evan Turner or Kent Bazemore or Ryan Anderson- guys who even though I have told you that Wade is declining- Wade is still much better than.

like i said- go on Yahoo.com.....youll see on the national site in the sports section a bunch of NBA stories.....one is how Dan Gilbert is writing one of the biggest checks in NBA history to cover the tax on his Championship team....the other is how the Heat's franchise guy has been pissed off to such an extreme degree that he is thinking about going to the fucking Nuggets because the owner wants to pinch pennies.
