But Michel and Guice are WAAAAAAY better than Penny according to the draft dorks and fans and Penny is definitely a 3rd round, POSSIBLY 4th round 'OMFG' pick, so why is Penny higher in the odds!?!?!?!?!??!?!1/1/1111111
Michel likely will not get enough touches on the NE stacked offense. Especially if he can't hold onto the ball.
Guice will also be in the same boat in WA where they will use the pass to set up the run.
On paper today, Penny will be the feature back with Angry Doug his only competition for more touches. Two blocking TEs added to the roster, loss of players like Graham and Richardson gone points to Seattle being a run first team again.

Probably not but I'd still expect between 200-300 touches.

I don't think he'll get the 350+ touches that Gurley and a couple of the other top backs will probably get. Barkley is probably the only rookie RB that I would say is almost without a doubt getting more touches.

I don't know that's 14 touches a game on average. They still have White and likely Burkhead to share carries. Also he'll be competing for passes against White, Edelman, Gronk, Hogan and either Patterson, Britt or Mitchell.

This is like the easiest question to answer. He is day 1 expected to be the 3-down RB for them. Guice is more of a 2-down type player at this point and some question his off the field issues that dropped him in the draft and of course Michel one has to wonder how much he will get used by the Patriots as they have struggled to ever have a feature back.

Penny is a good player. I don't think anybody has ever denied that. The issue is more the talent and positional value compared to where he was drafted. Over the last 10 years every other position in the NFL has seen their top-10 average cap hit go up by quite a bit. The RB position has actually seen a decline because teams feel like they can find quality RB's without having to overspend.

Heck it is actually played out over the last about 5 years that if you look at the 5th round and beyond the two positions that consistently show up as being able to find Pro Bowl talent are RB and special teams contributors.

I don't know if they are going to pay Bradford 20 million to be the backup. He has a good chance of getting hurt though (I'd bet on it actually), which is why I was very puzzled as to why they gave Sam that money in the first place.

I wouldn't pay him $20 mil to hold a clipboard. We all know Bradford is gonna get hurt at some point this season.

Love Michel in that offense, but i agree, will lack the touches, while Barkley, if healthy, may touch the ball 35 times a game for the Giants

But Michel is gonna make some game changing plays for the Pats this season

True but he also had 3 kick return for 203 yards and 2 tds in those 2 games and 7 catches for 80 yards so even in the hands were he was less than normal he still had 385 yards on 53 touches. He's just dynamic in a multitude of ways . Not really limited to carrying it like other backs
After the opening kick return, Barkley was absolute trash against Ohio State. 21 carries for 44 yards, and 36 of that came on 1 carry, meaning he then had 20 carries for 8 yards. 4 catches for 23 yards was all he mustered in the air. The Buckeyes did an amazing job of shutting him down. Honestly, he had 1 good play against OSU all game, and it was the opening kick return. That was it. Otherwise, he had 26 touches for 75 total yards in the KR, rushing, and passing game. He also more or less disappeared in the loss to Michigan State.

Yeah. How many times has Mel Kiper been proven wrong? And he's supposed to be this all-knowing draft expert.

Im sure you can do this with all of the great ones in the league, find college games in their career where they didnt destroy opponents

It was mostly responding to him coming up big in major games. He played great against Iowa, but was largely a non-factor in their two losses outside of 1 play.

We can do this all day, Im pretty sure in the last 2 Rose Bowls, he destroyed both USC and Washington, and I think Penn State would consider those pretty big game

Sure. I didn't say he was great in every game. I said even the games he was "shut down " in he still made huge impact plays

In his final college season, he had four 100 yard rushing games and 3 games with a YPC under 3.

Zeke Elliott had 1 game under 3 YPC and 1 game under 100 yards.

Gurley had 1 under 100 and 0 under 3.

I highly doubt the NYG are going to put him at KR, and that was a big part of what made him a dynamic college player. It's also not like he was some demon of a receiver at RB. He averaged 3.5 catches a game as a senior for 45 yards, and that was by far his most productive season catching the ball. There's definitely room for skepticism on just how elite he will be. That offense isn't going to do him any favors either.

Sure. However, as a runner, he was more inconsistent in his last year than several recent elite NFL backs were in their final college years.
