I always felt Cook was a little wild. Never seemed to have very good command of his pitches. He got by on the velocity and late movement getting guys to strike out swinging. Think about it: Off all his strikeouts his three good years here, how many times can you recall him painting the black and the batter going down looking?

Aaron Brooks certainly had a much better Oakland debut than the Last Aaron Brooks to play in Oakland!

I don't know what happened to him. He did issue walks and throw wild pitches, but he seemed to still be mentally in command enough to keep things from completely turning to shit. But this year he fell apart. Got a chuckle out of this one.

Wow, so after Mujica helped blow game 1, the A's come back to win the next 3 against the Astros despite his efforts to give away the 4th game as well. Although he did get a save for Chavez in the series. The A's starting pitching was pretty f'ing spectacular in this series giving up only 4 runs in 29 2/3 Innings. The new pick-up from the Bluejays Valencia added a good series as well, and will get a chance with Graveman to face their old team next.

Well, unfortunately things didn't go well for Graveman and company in game 1. But Lawrie and Donaldson also didn't do much of note.

...and then they continued to not go well as the A's get swept by the red hot Jays. I feel for Chavez having to go for Gray. He had the bad 2nd inning, but only gave up 1 hit after the HR. Oh well, at least Crisp got a hit when they dropped him farther down in the order. I don't know if he can make it to the Mendoza line before the season ends though.

saddest line picked up from social media, "The eight runs allowed by Otero are, not surprisingly, a career high."

And for the encore, the A's get swept in a 3 error performance and have dumped 7 straight. A's were outscored in the series 34-13.

It's too bad Gray's schedule got messed up. It would've been cool to see him duel Kershaw.

We would have had a decent chance to win today if that duel had happened.

Who knew, right?
Ha ha

A's bring out the short brooms for a 2 game sweep of LAD.
Scored 5 runs a game and opened a Canha whoop-ass on them.

That was an impressive series! Good to see Chavez have a decent outing again, and surprising to see Doubront "outduel" Kershaw in the first game. I don't know the last time I saw a pitcher give up 6 walks but only 1 hit and 1 run while still going 6 innings.

Tough break for I.Davis... I think he can be FA, so I wonder if that's it.

Ok, so A's lose 2 games by 1 run each, and then win the last game 8-2, all too typical of how the season has gone this season. The win even featured an A's blown save... too bad for Graveman as he bounced back pretty well from his last start.

In other news, the Astros and Rangers are both hot, and the Angels have hit the skids and fallen into 3rd place at the hands of the Blue Jays.

The A's get two HR's off of King Felix but nothing much else worth mentioning to lose the capper on the series with the M's. No A's starter made it through 5 innings in the set... although it was tough luck for Doubront having to exit early in his game.

Next up: AZ.

Oakland bounces back to win 2 of 3 from AZ. This series featured both a save and a loss from the A's former reliever Brad Ziegler.

Up next is 12 straight against the AL West, starting with a set against the slumping Halos.

So happy that the Angels are slumping. Any year that we don't win the division one of the Texas teams becomes my immediate second preferred team to win.

Yuck. I guess I'm pulling for the Astros by default. I hate the Angels most though. Seeing them get to Gray sucked big time.

Well, that was a clusterfuck. A's get swept by the M's.
I always hate losing to king Felix, but wasting Valencia's GS in the first game felt worse, even if an L's an L. At least Dull is off to a good start.

Up next: HOU

The A's win the 1st 2 of 3 from Houston as the slate of games against the AL West continues. The highlight for me was seeing Gray get the win against Kazmir. The lowlight was every A's pitcher giving up at least a run in the 3rd game loss.

With Vogt out, Reddick has taken the team lead in RBI, and is now 2 back in HRs.

In other news: Bob Melvin has been given a contract extension.
