PHILADELPHIA -- The New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies were rained out after a one-hour rain delay Saturday.

The game will be made up on Aug. 16 in Philadelphia as part of a single-admission doubleheader that will start at 4:05 p.m. It will be part of a five-game, four-day series that will include the teams playing on Sunday, Aug. 19, in Williamsport for the Little League Classic.

The Phillies' grounds crew placed the tarp on the field at Citizens Bank Park a few minutes after the scheduled 7:05 p.m. start time but before a pitch had been thrown because of the foreboding forecast. Thirty minutes later, a heavy line of thunderstorms rolled through the area.

Noah Syndergaard, scheduled to start for the Mets, will now instead pitch at home against Toronto on Tuesday. New York's Jacob deGrom will make his scheduled start in the series finale against the Phillies on Sunday.

Aaron Nola is also expected to start as scheduled for Philadelphia on Sunday, when weather conditions are expected to be dicey for the finale with showers in the forecast.

It is the second postponement between the two teams this year. The April 2 game at Citi Field was postponed to July 9 because of cold and wet conditions in New York.

Wow...crazy shit.
deGrom begins the game by loading the bases on b2b2b walks...but ends up stranding them all, with 2 K's and a force play groundout....on 45 pitches.

Edit: pinch hitter (Guillorme) bats for deGrom in the 2nd.

I'm not sure what the heck is going on with these guys any more.
Maybe Jake is under the weather...and hopefully it's not a shoulder or elbow issue.

Sheeeesh.

Gsellman coming in for long relief?

Mets had a 1-0 lead in the 6th...but Callaway decided to stick with the righty Sewald instead of going to Blevins against the lefty PH Williams with 2 on and 2 out.
The result was a 3 run HR.
Phils now lead it 3-1 heading to the 7th.

:L

btw: Sewald was due to lead off the top of the 7th anyway...so why not just double switch there???

Missed all the fun b/c of mother's day travel...thankfully.

guessing deGrom will be on the 30-day on Thursday or Friday, retroactive to Sunday.

I guess none of our pitchers believe in that whole shutdown inning thing anymore...

Thor had an rbi double in the 2nd to give the Mets a 1-0 lead...but the Jays put 2 on the board off him in the 3rd.
