Mets are now 45-63.

With only 54 games remaining on the season, they'll need to go on a blazing run of 36-18 the rest of the way just to finish at .500, which would be absolutely amazing.

But obviously the likelihood and chances of that happening are extremely low, as these are not the "Miracle Mets".....not even close.

Sadly, they probably will end up with even fewer wins than last year's total of 70.

UP NEXT

Braves RHP Julio Teheran (8-7) starts the finale of the four-game series Sunday afternoon. Teheran is 9-6 with a 2.33 ERA in his career versus the Mets and has allowed only two runs on 11 hits in 21 innings (0.86 ERA) against them this season. Rookie RHP Corey Oswalt (1-2) pitches for New York in place of injured Steven Matz. Oswalt beat San Diego in his last big league start July 25 for his first career win.

Callaway should be called out for taking precious AB's away from Nimmo and giving Bautista way too much unwarranted playing time.

Fucking ridiculous.

He's a bum....he had a 1st & 3rd with no outs situation but goes after the 1st pitch and GIDP. What a fucking fail. Game could've been put away right there with a better approach at the plate.
Hell, even a sac fly rbi would've been acceptable...and could've given the Mets a 4-1 cushion in the 6th.

But No. Now the game is tied at 3-3 in the 7th.

Piss it away again, guys. That's what you do best.

Idiots.

Un. Real.

Braves took a 4-3 lead in the top of the 9th off Lugo...but Mesoraco ties it up with a solo HR that was ruled a double, then reviewed, and ruled a HR.

4-4 game.

Nimmo strokes a 1 out single, and is now the potential winning run.
....with 2 outs..he steals 2nd.
Plawecki at the plate........and he's caught looKing.

Bonus baseball.
4-4 heading to the 10th.

And now of course the new mets pitcher (Bashlor) allows a 1 out solo HR in the 10th to give it right back, making it a 5-4 braves lead.

That didn't take long.

The ecstasy - agony roller coaster keeps chugging along....but it's been mostly agony.

SHOCKER!!

:rolleyes2:

Mets lose it 5-4.

They should just release Bautista ASAP.

What a waste.

Bring up some more kids from the farm to give them the AB's instead, and let them get some big league experience and playing time.

Absolutely nothing to lose at this point, when in reality, there hasn't been for weeks.

Speaking of RED HOT (chili peppers)

Cincy comes in for 3, which begins tomorrow.

Oh Joy.
Hopefully we can take 1 of the 3.

*Matt Harvey pitched 1 of their DH games on Saturday against the Nats and took the loss.....so he won't be pitching in this series. Dammit. :heh:

Thor is scheduled to start the opener for the Mets.

Another off season signing not paying dividends whatsoever...at least not yet.

Mets' Right-handed reliever Anthony Swarzak was put on the disabled list with inflammation in his shoulder. The move was retroactive to Saturday, and RHP Jacob Rhame was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas. The 32-year-old Swarzak is 0-2 with three saves and a 6.00 ERA in 22 games during his first season with the Mets. He missed about two months earlier this year with a strained oblique.

Today's series finale recap:

You just knew that giving up a 2 out HR to the opposing pitcher would come back to haunt us.

Mets had a 6-0 lead after 6....but Thor suddenly gets a case of the hiccups...1 out b2b HBP..then b2b singles.

It's now 6-1....Votto is up with the bases loaded...
.....Callaway goes to Wahl out of the pen.

What could possibly go wrong??

edit:
Wahl walks Votto to make it 6-2.

Bases still loaded .....still only 1 out.
