Eye witness testimony, or in this case victim testimony, is evidence. The question is how credible that evidence is. Obviously, there are many people who do not believe the alleged victim. But it is indisputably true that the following argument is false:

I know Person X lied once, therefore Person X has never told the truth.

We have all lied at some point in time. Probably not during a police investigation. But just because Zeke’s victim lied at some point in time doesn’t mean that she lied about everything. It’s easy for Cowboys fans to discount every word she said. It lets them ignore the possibility that one of their best players is an awful person.

You make it sound like this woman wanted to get the shit beat out of her so she could cash in on some theoretical lawsuit against Elliott. Who knows what her motivations were. According to her, she got beat up by a world class athlete who is twice her size. This is not a simple “Zeke made a mistake” situation. He is either a complete shitbag or the girl is lying. I don’t think there is a middle ground here. It comes down to who you believe.

It is. It certainly cuts against her credibility. But to be honest, there are rarely eye witnesses to actual abuse and it turns into a situation of he said, she said. It is possible she was actually beaten by Elliott, tried to get people to lie to bolster he case, and got caught. Who knows.

I don’t want to get caught up in the details. This isn’t a criminal court. We don’t need evidence beyond a reasonable doubt. The question for me is whether I think it’s more likely than not that Elliott beat the girl up. I think it is. And that’s all Goodell had to think in order to suspend him.

Nope, it was based on Goodell ignoring the entire criminal investigation as well as the NFL's own private investigator because he felt compelled to overcompensate for how poorly he handled the Ray Rice fiasco.

I know plenty about the case. She provided photographic evidence of bruises to investigators. Investigators determined the bruises in some of the photos were not a result of the bar fight.

Based on the timeline constructed, the NFL determined it was likely that Elliott caused some of the bruises.

But go ahead and try to mislead people. Your star running back is a jerk that treats women like crap. He will be out of the league in a couple of years.

My “Zeke is a woman abuser” comments are mostly incendiary. I can’t know with any degree of certainty that it’s true. But I really don’t think it’s crazy to believe the general thrust of Tiffany Thompson’s allegations - that Zeke caused harm to her.

That being said, Goodell rules arbitrarily and lets public opinion sway him far too much. I’d really love to see them restructure the process.

Anyway, I guess we’ll probably never know with 100% certainty. Ah well. I’m ready to bury this issue. I’m moving on.
