Game Thread: Northwestern week/Game thread

Off most complete game of franklin era, will be interesting to see how we build against a team coming off bye with running QB and what will be an 11am start time locally/ Hopefully team comes out sharp for the early start like today, hasn't usually been case on road for these early kicks.

For some reason I'm more worried about this game than Michigan. Just nervous about the team coming out flat, as you say.

If we come out ready to play, I think we coast, come out flat and its a dog fight. I feel good about UM game with week off to prepare, a pro style offense to face and QB's who aren't very good throwing against our D

I worry about us looking ahead towards Michigan and coming out flat against wildcats. We haven't done well (I believe) coming off a bye and I don't think our offense can do much against Michigan's defense. I hope we are competitive in our final 3 games that's all I can ask for.

Michigan has looked pedestrian since their shutout streak. The way we've improved and continue to improve, we'll be able to move the ball. I think they'll have a very hard time moving against us. Their QB's are marginal at best.

As for looking ahead, we have a bye week to look forward to, no looking ahead to anyone next week.

24-17 PSU, Fitzgerald is 1-7 after bye at NW, only win was against an FCS team.

Hack and Barkley continue to impress and defense is business as usual

First I hope you are correct and I am wrong. I predict we take a step back. Our offense struggles and we lose 24-10. Once again really hope I am wrong and we continue on last weeks success.

Only thing that worries me is the early road start. We tend to sleepwalk out of the gate on those. I think if were 3:30 kick I'd predict a double digit win

Offense waking up, Hack was like 11 of his last 14, need D to get ball back right away to start second half

Didn't get to see the game but from comments I read it appeared Franklin had more questionable play calls and time management issues. Is this true?

My prediction after the Temple game was 7-5 with a best of 8-4. Hope they prove me wrong.

It didn't make a difference. Haley dropped a sure INT that would've sealed the game, then got spun around on a 3rd and 10 or 15 2 plays later for the play that killed us. Nassib not being in on that play hurt as well, didn't get that edge pressure we had been most of second half.They wasted about 15 seconds of clock late. The play calls, I guess everyone is bitching about the wildcat with Barkley on 3rd and 1, I have no problem with. Play had been money all day, Gaia just whiffed on a block.

The no call on Scott getting mugged on KR still kills me. Also, I think if Barkley didn't ding his ankle on drive where we were rolling downfield to extend lead from 21-20, we win the game.

Still think we split the last 2 and we'll see what the bowl game brings. 8-5/9-4 would be fine with me. So many young players getting great experience, but we see how it can affect D with over pursuing and a little too much aggression. I had 9-3 before season, didn't think Temple was as good as they are, which would've had us at 8-2 now anyhow. This team is so close, just need a couple young OL to step up. Could honestly see Menet starting as a true Frosh, he's that good. Reports on Bates and Gonzalez have been very positive as well. Hopefully one of those three and/or Beh can contribute next year

We are getting there LBU. Little better start last Saturday would have done the trick. Honestly I have been watching replays and catching what I can since I have been at my nephews D2 games and will be at the conference championship this weekend.

Yeah, my biggest fear is always sleepwalking in first half on noon road kicks that are really 11am local time there.

2nd half was more how I thought game would go, we outscored them 14-3
