Is he one of these guys that coaches until he dies like Bear Bryant/Bill Snyder?
Or is the more realistic situation is that he retires any year now. 1-2-3 years tops.

Who replaces the guy.
Isn't is Coaching Suicide to follow this guy??

He has said and I believe him, that he will coach until he cannot maintain the standard he has set. I do not see him stepping away for anything other than health reasons in the next five years.

It's been shown 75 has been typically the drop off.

That standard has to be exhausting though. At their current level, losing in the first round of the playoffs or making a NYD bowl will be seen as a disappointment. You do that a couple of years in a row and fans start to grumble. At some point anything less than finishing the season on top is a disappointment

Everything since 2009 has been bonus for me, so I'm just enjoying it while it lasts.

I think he'll leave at age 70 so sometime in 2021.

You just keep that coffee and those Little Debbies coming and worry about your own damn team.

You think he's gonna tell you that? The other coaches will be able to know then. Tell you what, he's going to go ahead and call every other coach in the nation and give them the exact time and day he will be retiring. You can call them and get the information.

I'm 100% with this. Winning in '09 was the greatest football feeling I've ever had. It's been a damn party ever since.

This topic is pretty common among the Bama folks. I honestly think he'll be here until he's around 70 years of age. He has such a high standard that I don't think he'll leave until he realizes that he can't live up to the expectations he has set for himself. I personally want him retire early enough that he can revel in the fact that he is this generation's greatest College coach.

As for his replacement, that's a tough one. I think the Alabama job has become such a lucrative one, that I'm just happy we have a great AD in place that I trust will put the right man in the job.

He will coach until he runs out of gas. Likely around 70 -75 is my guess. His replacement?

He's in good health, full of energy, and doing what he loves to do. No reason to believe he can't keep on trucking another 3-to-5 years, maybe longer. If he starts having health problems or doesn't think he can maintain the program at the same heights he's built it to, then he would probably step away.

I don't know who would replace him. A lot of Bama folks would love to see Dabo Swinney get the job, but he may be too entrenched at Clemson by then to want to leave. I'm not sure who else could come close to measuring up, but Jimbo Fisher & Justin Fuente could be in the mix.

He looks like the type of guy that can go to 75. Replacement will be in for a rough time.
