I thought Nicasio was a keeper but apparently it's too early for that kind of thinking. Alvarez, 22, was slashing .247/.321/.382 for Double-A Springfield and is known for his speed. Low power guy with 17 HR in 6 years. He was .323/.404 in 2016 in 116 games with 36 SB. Only managed 61 games this year so must have been on the DL.

I don't like this deal. The Philies get nothing on return. Nicasio is a solid reliever and will be difficult
to replace.

I agree. Nicasio would Contribute to the team and help coach the young pitching staff with seasoned advice. There will be others.

So, we are back to getting rid of good players for nothing or dumpster-diving products in return.
