Meh, if player safety is the excuse just get rid of OT in the regular season. Rainbro me.

I laughed.

I think @YankeeRebel still has a good point though. The Raiders could've been the #2 or even the #1 seed in the playoffs. The likelihood that they win a game though is very low imo with no Carr at QB.

Fuck ties. If it's one of the few things I want the NFL to copy from College Football, it's the overtime rules.

I don't see why people are saying there will be more ties, in fact I think it'll stay about the same if not less. Coaches will be taking more chances now during overtime trying to create a big play or working hard to take 6-7 minutes off the clock before trying to score. You take 6 minutes off the clock and kick a FG the other team only has 4 minutes to score instead of 9, puts more pressure on them.

Last Year there were 4 Ties.
Under the New Rules there would have been 12 Ties

But that argument doesn't work because coaches were playing with a 15 minute clock and not a 10 minute one, every single game would've been coached differently if there was only 10 minutes instead of 15.

You forget each team gets a possession if the first team does not score a TD.
Last Year 26 teams averaged over 2 minutes and 30 seconds per drive.
One Series is Half the OT, more if you count kickoffs and punts.

I would love to hear how, Now Coaches will Change based off something that might not even happen. I bet almost half the teams never even went to OT last year. No One will even think or prepare from something that might never happen.

Then think about it like this. Each Team plays 16 games, if they are Lucky they go to OT Once. Who would change what they do on that What If...

Most Coaches will play for the Tie and Kill Clock rather than Risk Losing....

I don't know why people want the NFL to go with College OT rules. Starting both teams at their opponent 25 is dumb and it will lead to longer games most likely. The NFL isn't trying to have a game that go to 6 overtimes

I'd rather not have OT at all than watch that clownshow.

You'd need to tweek it for the NFL. I'd start both teams at the 40 instead of the 25 and make teams go for 2 right away. That would do it imo. College rule is heads and shoulders more exciting than the NFL and every game has a winner. The real reason they don't do it is gambling but that's a different thread

OT cannot favor one team over another.

If one Team is good at putting 60 yard drives together but is not as good int he red zone, then another sucks at putting a 40+ yard drive together but is Great in the red zone.

You automatically give One Team an Advantage over the other.

In College it works as Bias and Opinion still rule that Sport. In the NFL Every Game is decided on the Field and Every Spot in the Playoffs is Decided on the Field.

Last Year 2 Teams miss the playoffs if they played under these new Rules. THAT is how close teams are to the Playoffs or Going Home. To give an advantage to some teams is just wrong.

If Tampa had beat Atlanta in Tampa, Tampa is the Division Champ. Atlanta opens At Seattle. For as good as last season was for the Falcons, ONE Game and it all end much sooner (well maybe...)

Cannot allow that one game to be decide by who has the better Short Zone Offense. Or which one has the worst Short Zone Defense. Every Team has Strengths and Weaknesses, cannot have rules that favor one over the other. At least In My Opinion...

OT already favors acteam though. Whoever wins the coin toss. There's no perfect OT system aside from just playing the entire quarter regardless of score but that would never happen because if gambling but that's really the only legit OT with no favoritism

True, but that has NO bearing on Roster, Talent on Roster, Scheme, Coaching, Execution or anything football related.

And both teams had a 50/50 Shot to get that Advantage to Start the OT.

Well that kind of stinks. Had to wait one year to put it in costing the Broncos the playoffs. Oh well. Most likely then watch it cost the Broncos the playoffs this year with those darn ties.
