The Top 100 Players of 2016 on NFL Network

So they do this every offseason and it is usually good for a few laughs and some discussion although of course not really important in any way.

But this year they decided to go extra stupid.

I am no fanboy for Andrew Luck but ranking him as the 92nd best player in the league? That's more than just a little ridiculous. Kirk Cousins is rated 85. Matt Forte is rated 90 and he was cut.

Pretty funny stuff.

Well, it's "of 2016" whatever that means. Luck dropped like 85 spots. He probably is much better than the 92nd player in the entire NFL, but it's he also doesn't deserve to be #7 right now either.

Meh, it's a players' vote. Probably not too rigid on criteria nor scientific in method.

The list is more or less a joke but I could pretty easily come up with a list of Top 5 players that does not include Aaron Donald. That doesn't mean that Donald isn't an elite player. But it's pretty hard to say that anyone should definitively be in the Top 5. Rodgers is the only person I would say should be on everyone's top 5.

I think it is more meaningful to the players as it is voted on among the players

Means a little more I think to hear praise from your comrades as opposed to some dumb ass sportswriters or kool aid drinking fans

But it makes you wonder about the true cross-section of the league ... like how many actually voted ... one could have an entire team vote and others none ...

like a talent show where only the country western singers win ...

Well NFL players disagree and he was one of the top 2 MVP candidates. I would think you'd feel differently after throwing 4 TDs in less then 3 quarters vs the Rams.

Why? If you are contending for the award for the best player in the NFL with Tom Brady? I just cant figure why Dak didnt even make the top 100... especial when fans vote for numbers 21 to 100. YOu'd think fan support would at least get him in the top 100.
