I'd get it if they were trying to make a commentary on how Seattle puts together a big board but...nah...its bait

Last year he had Malik Willis at #20 and Matt Corral at #32.
Both ended up going in the late 3rd round.

In 2021 he had Kyle Trask going in the 1st.

…..

QB’s get overdrafted in mocks.

There is nothing more likely to get a GM fired than drafting the WRONG QB in the 1st round. More and more NFL GM’s have finally started to realize that in recent years.

And then combine that with the fact that the NFL has radically changed in the last couple of years. You can actually obtain starting quality QB’s on the open market via trade and/or free agency. That is a trend that is likely to continue.

Any GM who would take Hooker (or Richardson for that matter) in the 1st round of this upcoming draft in this era simply isnt paying attention. It’s an absolutely unneeded risk with such a big asset. It really is no different than putting half your mortgage on black at the casino to try and double your money. It can work. But it’s not the smart play and in the end you will likely end up going broke doing it.

What was the knock on him besides the injury?

Big fan of Hooker in college but a top ten prospect ??

Pros:
- Has good feel of the pocket and doesn't panic under pressure
- Good at processing what the defense gives him and knows where to go with the ball
- Solid mobility for extending plays
Cons:
- Solid accuracy but there are times where he misses some open WRs for big gains
- Not a lot of opportunity for tight window throws in the Tenn offense
- Lacks high end physical tools (solid arm / solid athleticism )

I believe Hendon Hooker can come in as a serviceable QB and a capable starter in the NFL today but I don't see him as a franchise QB.
I see him more of a 2nd - 3rd round pick

Tannenbaum was also a terrible GM in real life, so no surprises there.

Hooker is 25 and coming off a knee injury. He does have some upside IMO but is likely to be a good career backup.

Honestly, I don't see why people are so "upset" or "outraged" here. NFL teams have the right to pick any player, any round they want. It is really about how desperate they are for the player.

We have seen plenty of prospects seen as "overdrafted". People were upset when the Giants drafted Daniel "Whose That?" Jones over Dwayne Haskins. Joe Flacco and Patrick Mahomes were not seen as 1st round material, but they were. Perhaps the outrage is centered on the concept that Hendon Hooker isn't seen as a "media first rounder".

It's bad enough having Richardson mocked at 5 but far worse having a day 3 QB mocked at 5.
yeah, I wouldn't mind Hooker in the 3rd round (would love him in the 4th), but with Richard I'll trust the organization in whether or not he is worth it. I am still on team "trade down" and get more draft picks.

I wouldn’t be pissed if Detroit took Hooker with the Vikings second rounder.

I’d wouldn’t be pissed. But I’d prefer the 3rd.

I’d be happy af to see you guys take him
at 5. Make that 6th pick a lot more impactful.

People are upset because they see a guy getting paid for his prognostication be so intentionally wrong. Is he projecting what he expects the draft to be, or what he would do? Also, is he being controversial just for clicks?

There is over-drafting and there is taking a day 2 QB prospect by all other accounts in the top 5. Far end of the bell curve on probability here.

I looked at his entire draft. It's not awful. It is interesting that he put a run on OL after the Richardson. I don't believe Hooker will be get drafted in the top 10 or top 5. But he could get drafted by the Seahawks late in the 1st round. I maybe wrong, but I don't see a lot of passion for Hooker. We could see him anywhere between the 1st to 5th round. It depends on how they feel about the knee. He reminds me a lot of Teddy Bridgewater.

The Mock Drafts are designed to be "fun" and get people's attention. We know all most people will struggle to get at least 10 correct. Tannenbaum
did what was intended: to get people worked up.

That's the part that I don't like. I don't think he believes this one bit and is going for clickbait.
I stay away from cable news as a general principle. They are simply designed to get people outraged. I prefer looking at amateur analysis and looking at youtube videos. They are more into looking at the prospects potential than about stirring the pot. I have no bones to pick with Mr. Hooker. Looks like a good guy. But do people really see a franchise guy in him or somebody who is "fine"?

He's doing favors for agents. You have to understand that media is a whore first and foremost.
