What a difference a training camp and some confidence can make.

I'm not thinking he scores 60 or anything, he'll taper off to some extent some time.... and hopefully when he does, #71 and/or #87 will be around to pick up the slack. But all said and done, he should be wayyyy better than he was here last season, but not quite the Brett Hull numbers he's putting up currently.

But what a great time to get hot like this. Shero has to be loving it, after the quiet murmurs going around after Go-Go went to Dallas and turned into a point machine.

Only hope he stays hot when the big two come back. He has been a hot starter his whole career lets see how he does at seasons end.

Just looking through his stats, he is taking more shots per game this year (4.17 per game this year to 2.49 per game for his career), and scoring on a higher percentage of his shots (Shooting % of 18.0% this year compared to 12.5% for his career), the combination of those two factors is very strange, and counter intuitive.

I think the shooting % is kind of fluky, 12-14.0% is more reasonable. And 4 shots per game is an Ovechkin like pace, so that seems a little high, but I believe 3-3.25 shots per game the rest of the year for Neal is reasonble.

Because I like math.

3.25 shots per game * 70 games left = 228 shots
Assuming 13.0 of those shots turn into goals
228 * .13 = 29.64 goals

29 (29.64 rounded down) + 9 (current goals) = 38 for the season.

Great stats and makes sense. I just hope his shots per game doesn't dip too low when Crosby and Malkin are both in the lineup and try to dish back to them more rather than taking the shot. So far he hasn't been that way too much with Malkin.

I like it when he is in Shoot first mode because he has natural ability to score, unlike TK.

He's got great pace on that wrist shot. If he keeps getting himself free, he'll keep scoring goals. I think his issue last year was that he couldn't get free.

When Crosby and Malkin are back on the ice, he'll definitely keep getting space, too.
