Cal's an interesting case. His whole thing was "Come to Kentucky and you'll end up being a first rounder". I think it would be hilarious if he came out of this clean. I used to despise the guy but at least he's honest about what he is (unless he gets wrapped up in this shit as well).

He's mellowed a lot over the years.

Kids seem to enjoy playing for him. But there's nothing I enjoy more than seeing a douche get his hat handed to him.

Yeah, he's next to impossible to root for because every year he starts them out playing street ball and hopes that by the end of the year there's some chemistry. I honestly don't think he's much of an x's and o's guy but doing that in itself is kind of a hard task.

I don't see how he isn't. His recruiting pitch is better than anyone's but with the talent he draws in this environment it's idiotic to think he just happens to find the 3-4 5* recruits who aren't on the take every single year

Yeah, the ironic thing is that by being honest about what he was ended up being a very good sales pitch. All he has to do is put together a slide show with the one and done's that have gone through there, signed a rookie contract, and ended up with 7-8 figures in their first 3 years. Even if you completely wash out it's a good take and there's a lot of "now" in the pitch. I know that some of these recruits are short sighted but that's hard to compete against when you're dealing with sure-fire first rounders out of high school if it weren't for the one and done rule. I can't think of another coach like him. But it obviously wouldn't be shocking if he went down with this scandal.
