The Picks go to the Astros?

How about just the Cardinals forfeit those picks? That would make more sense. It would punish the Cardinals, but not give the Astros an advantage at the same time.

I agree with this hayseed.

Also, wasn't there something where the Astros hadn't changed the password to their system, so the guy didn't actually "hack" into it, but rather just put in his old credentials that hadn't been scrubbed? I'm not one to blame the victims, but in this instance, it sure seems like the Astros are being rewarded for their ineptitude.

You are looking for common sense out of and MLB commissioner. That has been lacking for over 25 years.

This.

Unfortunately, the Cards got off light.
Those 2 picks...(#56 & #75) are nothing.....and the $2M is chicken feed.

Can Houston parlay and include those 2 picks in a package deal for something better down the road??

I believe those picks are the Cardinals' 1st and 2nd. That smarts.

Their first two draft picks isn't bad? What would you consider bad in this situation? A hanging?
I was about to say. Losing draft picks is a huge deal especially since that's basically been fueling the Cardinals relative success.

With how the FA landscape has changed, coupled with the fact that presumably players not juicing will be breaking down at more historically common ages, losing your first two picks is a pretty big deal.

You'd be punishing the players that would have been picked...doubt the MLBPA would accept that

LOL

So you think that whomever the Cards would have picked would be removed from the draft pool?

So does this mean an asterisk gets put on their World Series wins.

Only if he writes some sort of tell all book about drafting a certain player caused the Cardinals to win the 2017 World Series. He was hired at the beginning of 2015 IIRC.

This is a pretty steep penalty, but it wont hurt the Cardinals very much

They always seem to do a lot with not much
