Yeah, that's what they do....laugh. Not all of us can be 4-8.
not all of us can have a pasty flab that has sleep overs with highschool boys on his way to 0 major conference titles in his coaching career.

Lloyd's last years were pretty terrible as well. I think the slide started even before Dick Rod.

I'm not sure why you label them as pretty terrible:
2006: 11-2 (I think they were top 10 ranking at season's end)
2007: 9-4 (I still think they cracked the top 20)

They did lose to App St, so that pretty much made the year crappy...but they ended the season well. IMO, Carr's last two years were VERY good overall. (although I'm still pretty bitter about App St)

Did anybody mention Miami? They haven't been the same program since Butch Davis left. And yes, I know they went to 2 titles after he left(and won one). But the coach they hired, ultimately lead them in a downward spiral they still haven't gotten out of.

Miami went to shit once Shalala wanted to clean up the program and they could no longer recruit fast as fuck players who couldn't read for shit. Once she got rid of Thug U, Miami went into a downward spiral and have not recovered. Miami will not be back until they can be Thug U again.

Texas went into a 20 year death spiral after Darrell Royal.

Yes and no. Ol Fred Akers played for 2 nattys and lost ('77 and '83). I'd say after Akers was fired was when the program went into a complete death spiral until Mack was hired. So it was more of a 10 year death spiral.

When Bud Wilkinson retired, Gomer Jones took over, he was the defensive coordinator, and it spiraled out of control for 3 years.

Then we hired Jim Mackenzie in 1967 who died of a heart attack after 1 year of coaching. But he had brought in Chuck Fairbanks and Barry Switzer in that 1 year and they took over after his death.

After Barry Switzer, we had Gary Gibbs, Howard Schnellenberger, and John Blake. :L
Then hired Bob Stoops.

Blake was the low point of any program in college football history.

When the fuck was Washington State high enough to be able to spiral down?

Only in the minds of their fans who ran out of Old E to drink and they are forced to smoke cow shit since pot hasn't been invented over there yet!

I don't know if I would say Washington went in to a spiral after losing james. they started trending down some, lambright kind of had them up and down but it wasn't really til Neuheisle that things really started falling apart followed by gilbert and Tyrone.

And I don't think losing Kelly is exactly what caused Oregons downward trend as much as losing Mariota. seems like after he left leadership fell off, players weren't really in it.
Agree, didn't hit the downward spiral until a decade later. Even won a rose bowl in that time.

Actually looking at this whole list most of them are bullshit. USC was down for USC, but could hardly be considered a spiral, Florida had some down years, but we're never hopeless, considering how the fall of Penn State went down, they've done great pretty much every year, and are now playing for conference championships, OSU, seriously? The only reason they weren't in some quality bowl games every year is they weren't allowed to be, Boise State has done fine, they're back in their own league, but spiral? South Carolina was never all that great with their big name coach, Washington has been covered, definitely a big and out of control spiral, but only works in this context if you're calling neuheisel a big name coach, Oregon yes, Nebraska yes, the rest don't deserve to be on the list, no shit too early to tell...

Missouri has been in a 47 year spiral since Dan Divine.

Minnesota's might be longer. They went downhill after Bernie Bierman

Georgia had a lot of lean years between Vince Dooley and Mark Richt.

And it was a rough few seasons between Wally Butts and Vince Dooley.

OKLAHOMA assures us it wont happen to them.

Every other damn school circles the drain for a few years, but the Sooners are going to be immune.

Blue Bloods like (Alabama, Texas, USC, Notre Dame, Michigan) are not immune and have all suffered.

Even though it has already happened to OU twice in their history, they will avoid having their Charlie Strong.

Because.....well... their fans say so.
