Washington - Don James: other than the Neuheisel years they were down for well over a decade.
Florida - Urban Meyer: UF has now won back to back SEC East titles.
Nebraska - Tom Osborne: I got nothing.
USC - Pete Carroll: USC seems to be back in the thick of things after some rough years.
Penn St. - Joe Paterno: See USC up above.
Texas - Mack Brown: Rough years with Charlie, let's see what happens with Herman.
Baylor - Art Briles: Too early to tell.
Oregon - Chip Kelly: Didn't make a bowl game last season.
Ohio St. - Jim Tressel: Ohio St. is back on top again.
Boise St. - Chris Petersen: Too early to tell yet.
Georgia - Mark Richt: Too early to tell yet.
South Carolina - Steve Spurrier: They deserve to lose every game after hiring Muschamp (fvkn idiots).
LSU - Les Miles: Too early to tell yet.

Add some more if you have 'em.

To be a spiral it would have to last more than one season, no?

Also, Penn State did ok with O'brien when Paterno first was gone. Franklin hasn't done crap until this past season.

Maybe West Virginia when Rich Rod left?

I believe Mack was around .500 in conference over the last few years. Talent was way down when he left. The spiral started after the NC lose and just continued.

Nah, WVU has been bowl eligible all but one season since RichRod left. Not great but not a spiral.

What about Colorado after their nice run in the late 80's early 90's (Cant remember exactly what years but had some good teams)

What is your definition of spiral, and explain how USC fit that criteria.

When Bud Wilkinson retired, Gomer Jones took over, he was the defensive coordinator, and it spiraled out of control for 3 years.

Then we hired Jim Mackenzie in 1967 who died of a heart attack after 1 year of coaching. But he had brought in Chuck Fairbanks and Barry Switzer in that 1 year and they took over after his death.

After Barry Switzer, we had Gary Gibbs, Howard Schnellenberger, and John Blake. :L
Then hired Bob Stoops.

Umm Washington State, Don James was so embarrassed about getting humiliated by Mike Price he quit. Once Mike Price actually realized he was going to live in Alabama he said fuck it and went to the strip clubs instead of recruiting boys who couldn't get into Derek Zoolander's school for boys who can't read so good.

Michigan: Lloyd Carr
I was going to say....I thought Michigan would be one of the prime examples here. A 10 year death spiral until Harbaugh showed up.

Did anybody mention Miami? They haven't been the same program since Butch Davis left. And yes, I know they went to 2 titles after he left(and won one). But the coach they hired, ultimately lead them in a downward spiral they still haven't gotten out of.

Substitute Notre Dame for Miami in the above post.

When the fuck was Washington State high enough to be able to spiral down?

97, then 2000-2002 ranked in the top 10 ain't yo shabby for Mr Price. USC was a forgotten program before Mike Price left and allowed Pete Carroll to start dominating the conference.

Bowl eligible is a swift downturn in regards to setting the bar for a team that won 3 BCS bowls in 6 years and was among the nation's elite.
