Here's a thread to share your opinion on various musical topics in ordered list form.

This doesn't have to be only a top 10 either; I just titled this thread Top 10 to keep the title simple. If you feel like ranking an entire album in order of your favorite songs on that album, go for it. If you want to rank your favorite songs from a band, but their catalog is so large that 10 simply isn't enough, expand the list!

Note that this is not intended to be "THE" list that everyone is supposed to agree with; it's exclusively your personal opinion.

So what say you music lovers? Favorite bands? Favorite albums? Favorite songs? Let's see some lists...

I was born with a hatred for pop music. When I started listening to music as a very young pup, I was drawn to my dad's KISS and Van Halen vinyl - which was the most rebellious/anti-pop music available to me. During my pre-teens I also developed an affinity for Weird Al Yankovic because of his parody/mocking of the likes of Michael Jackson's and Madonna's trash.

When the 90's hit and I hit my teens, my ears caught the ultimate in rebellious music: rap. I was hooked. I'm not talking that MC Hammer dance crap, I'm talking that 2 Live Crew and N.W.A. don't-tell-mom-I'm-listening-to-this hardcore rebellious shit. I listened almost exclusively to rap into the 2000's.

When OutKast won the Grammy for Album of the Year - that was the beginning of the end for my love for rap. Rap had officially gone pop. I still listened to the new music from my favorite rap acts for a while, but I was unable to conjure any desire for new rap acts because it was all pop/dance-rap.

Throughout the 2000's, my taste in music migrated from rap to metal. Now I listen to almost exclusively metal.

So here are my favorite musical acts:

Top 5 Rap
  1. Twista
  2. Too $hort
  3. OutKast*
  4. Wu-Tang Clan
  5. Eminem

Top 5 Metal
  1. System of a Down
  2. Korn
  3. Slipknot
  4. Chevelle
  5. Disturbed

* Note that OutKast was my undisputed #1 until the Grammy and "The Love Below" tainted my affinity for them.
